As a true freshman at Notre Dame in 2021, Alt played offensive tackle and tight end. He played in all 13 games and started eight of them.

As a sophomore in 2022, he started all 13 games and had been in the starting lineup at left tackle for 21 consecutive games for the Irish’s offensive line.

He helped the Irish average 4.6 yards per carry during the 2022 season as Notre Dame ran 2,457 rushing yards, the program’s sixth-best total since 1996.

    Alt’s Potential In the NFL

Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings graded Alt as a top-five prospect on his 2024 NFL Draft Big Board. Atl is Cummings’ personal choice for OT1 over Penn State’s Olu Fashanu and Alabama’s JC Latham.

“Heading into the season, Alt was my OT3. But in 2023, he showcased improved play strength and hand usage, hyper-elite mobility, and recovery athleticism. That’s all I needed to see to vault him up to OT1,” Cummings wrote.

“The physical traits are where it starts with Alt. At 6’8″, 315 pounds, he has a towering frame with impressive length, and his tape shows off uncanny athleticism and recovery capacity at that size.”

Cummings cites Alt’s tall, lean frame and elite movement skills as some of his greatest strengths. Additionally, he can effortlessly mirror rushers with short-area bursts and superb lateral mobility, and he has instant lateral burst off the snap and great range blocking in space.

For weaknesses, Cummings said Alt has an exceptional power profile but sometimes struggles to drive after contact. Additionally, he sometimes lacks the strength to seal better-leveraged defenders, blocking inside on runs.

Alt’s incredible physical traits set a strong foundation for a prospect who’s proven to be smooth and disciplined with his footwork, combative and precise with his hands, and very instinctive as a stunt protector and run blocker.
