With the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears selected quarterback Caleb Williams. While the Bears have struggled to live up to preseason expectations throughout this up-and-down 2024 NFL season, Williams has made strides since the start of the campaign. Here’s everything you need to know about the rookie phenom.
How Tall Is Caleb Williams?
Williams measured in at 6’1 1/8″ at the NFL Combine. While meeting with reporters at the NFL Combine, Williams compared his frame to Aaron Rodgers.
“I am around Aaron Rodgers’ size, and maybe weight too,” Williams said.
When Rodgers was measured at the 2005 NFL Combine, he was 6’2″ and 223 pounds, slightly larger than Williams. While Williams is an inch shorter than Rodgers, he’s roughly an inch taller than Baker Mayfield, who is an even 6’0″.
How Much Does Williams Weigh?
At the NFL Combine, Williams weighed in at 214 pounds.
Williams weighs a little less than Rodgers, who is listed at 225 pounds. Williams is heavier than Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Kirk Cousins. The closest weight comparison is probably Lamar Jackson, who is listed at 216 pounds.
Now that he has an NFL strength and conditioning regimen, Williams will likely gain a few pounds of muscle.
How Old Is Williams?
Williams is 23 years old. He was born on Nov. 21, 2001, so he was 22 when he was drafted.
He’s currently the second-youngest starting quarterback in the NFL, behind only Anthony Richardson (22 years old).
Williams is the second-youngest quarterback in his rookie class, trailing only J.J. McCarthy (21 years old).
What School Did Williams Go To?
Williams was a five-star recruit out of Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., and he initially joined up with Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma.
After his freshman season with the Sooners, Williams transferred to USC, where he played two seasons before declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Revisiting Williams’ College Career
As a true freshman, Williams first introduced himself to the nation in perhaps the most dramatic way possible — leading Oklahoma to a Red River Rivalry win over Texas with 300 total yards and three total touchdowns off the bench.
In 2022, Williams followed Riley to the USC Trojans and won the Heisman Trophy after completing 333 of 500 attempts for 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns, and five interceptions while also running for 382 yards and 10 scores.

In 2023, though the Trojans fell to 7-5, Williams showed off his magic once again, throwing for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.
During his time at USC, Williams was one of the highest-earning NIL athletes, famously living in a Los Angeles penthouse during his time in college.
On top of his Heisman Trophy, Williams won the 2022 Maxwell Award, 2022 Maxwell Camp Award, AP and Sporting News College Football Player of the Year award, and unanimous All-American honors.
It was no surprise when the Bears made Williams the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
