NFL Draft Fan Favorites: Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Penix Jr., T’Vondre Sweat Most-Selected Players in 2024 NFL Mock Drafts

    Published on

Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Penix Jr., and T'Vondre Sweat are among the most-selected players according to our 2024 NFL Mock Draft data.

NFL Draft season tends to hit a fever pitch after the Combine takes place, and mock draft scenarios link players to nearly every team imaginable to capitalize on the speculation surrounding every top newcomer entering the league.

Fans have taken to our PFN Mock Draft Simulator to select some of their favorite prospects for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft with hopes their team will go in a similar direction when the event begins on April 25.

Names like Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Penix Jr., and T’Vondre Sweat have been among the most-selected prospects, according to the data pulled from the PFN Mock Draft Simulator. What other names have cracked the top 10?

Who Are the NFL Draft Favorites Among 2024 Prospects?

    10) Caleb Williams, QB, USC

The 10th-most selected player in PFN’s MDS is the prospect widely expected to go No. 1 overall when the 2024 NFL Draft begins in April, which is USC QB Caleb Williams.

The Chicago Bears cleared the way to select a new franchise quarterback after trading Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this month, making the top QB prospect a plausible option for the top pick.

A scenario still exists where the Bears could trade with the Washington Commanders — who Williams is tied to because of his relationship with new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury during his days at USC — or the New England Patriots if they like either of the other top prospects at the position.

However, the growing likelihood of Williams wearing a Bears uniform to start his NFL career is increasing by the day.

    9) Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona

Of all the talent the offensive tackle position has in this draft class, it may come as a surprise that Jordan Morgan out of Arizona is the ninth-most selected player in the MDS.

Names like Joe Alt, JC Latham, Taliese Fuaga, Olu Fashanu, Troy Fautanu, and Amarius Mims have generally been mocked ahead of the former Wildcat. Still, Morgan is in the mix for a late Day 1 pick, which is very clear by his appearance on this list.

    8) Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

For any team that has a top-20 pick in the upcoming draft, it’s hard to pass up arguably the best tight end prospect to ever enter the league when you’re on the clock. Fans who are using our PFN Mock Draft Simulator are having a hard time passing on him, too, because Georgia’s Brock Bowers is the eighth-most selected player, according to our data.

Bowers is a special talent who can be deployed as a multi-faceted weapon in the NFL. His rare blend of twitchiness, contact balance, speed, acceleration, and hands make for an instant-impact player.

    7) Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

Speaking of instant impact players, Washington’s Rome Odunze is widely considered a top-three receiver prospect in this class and enters the NFL with very few weaknesses. Outside of his exceptional talent, another potential reason Odunze is the seventh-most selected player on our mock draft tool stems from the vast amount of landing spots for the former Husky.

There isn’t a team in the league that couldn’t use a dynamic receiver with Odunze’s skill set in today’s NFL. This makes him a potential option from anywhere, from as high as fourth overall to the Arizona Cardinals, all the way to the Indianapolis Colts at 15. If he lasts past that, any team should consider themselves incredibly lucky.

    6) Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia

This is one of the most interesting names on this list because Georgia’s Sedrick Van Pran isn’t exactly a lock for a first or second-round pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Yet, according to the PFN Mock Draft Simulator data, Van Pran is the sixth-most selected player.

When the top interior offensive line prospects — specifically centers — are discussed, Van Pran’s name usually comes up after Jackson Powers-Johnson and Graham Barton. The former Georgia Bulldog likely falls into the second tier with Zach Frazier and Hunter Nourzad at the position, but he still could provide value for any team in search of fortifying the middle of their o-line.

    5) Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

The fifth-most popular pick in PFN’s Mock Draft Simulator is another top quarterback prospect, LSU’s Jayden Daniels. Most draft pundits may consider Williams the top signal-caller in this class, but Daniels is undoubtedly in the discussion — along with Drake Maye — for the QB1 spot.

Daniels is an electric dual-threat prospect who saw an incredible jump in passing production during his time in a Tigers uniform, which gives him a ceiling and unique skill set that rivals any QB in this group.

Now that the Bears are all but certain to draft a quarterback at the top of the draft, Daniels will likely hear his name called within the first three selections.

    4) Johnny Newton, DT, Illinois

It may have taken us a while, but a defensive prospect has finally appeared on this list with Johnny Newton out of Illinois, the fourth-most selected in the PFN Mock Draft Simulator.

Today’s NFL doesn’t seem to place the same level of priority on the interior defensive line on draft day in comparison to previous generations, which has generally made a plus-level prospect of Newton’s caliber tend to fall either to the end of the first round or early second in these mock drafts.

    3) T’Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas

Coming in as the third-most selected player is another potential big-time contributor along the defensive interior — Texas’ T’Vondre Sweat.

I need to place a greater emphasis on the word big with Sweat weighing in at 366 pounds. He will provide any defensive front with an immediate 2-gap anchor in the running game as a 0 or 1-technique. Sweat should hear his name called on Day 2 but could sneak into the back half of Round 1 with his valuable skill set.

    2) Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

Michael Penix Jr. is the second-most selected player in the MDS and one of this class’ most polarizing players. Some believe Penix is the QB4 of this class, which could make him a top-10 pick. Others believe he’s a Day 2 type prospect at the position.

Teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders all have needs at quarterback and hold a top-15 pick. Penix’s production at Washington over the last two seasons was outstanding, but his lengthy injury history and advanced age make him a unique prospect in this draft.

    1) Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

The most-selected player in the PFN Mock Draft Simulator is Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Honestly, can you blame anyone conducting a mock draft for their favorite team for taking arguably one of the best players in the class?

There isn’t a team in the NFL whose offense couldn’t be improved immediately by Harrison’s presence on their roster. The Arizona Cardinals have the inside track to having him fall into their laps come draft night, which could give Kyler Murray the best pass-catching weapon in his entire career.
