Latest Mock Draft Has Cowboys Taking WR
Pro Football Network’s Lorenzo Reyna thinks that the Cowboys may zig, while the majority of onlookers think they will zag in the 2024 NFL Draft. Reyna has Dallas taking Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy instead of taking an offensive lineman in the first round.
“While tackle is a high need, Jerry Jones isn’t shy about adding firepower to the offense,” Reyna wrote. “With Michael Gallup gone and Brandin Cooks having one year left on his deal, Jones and the Dallas Cowboys go for a potential volcanic pairing between the fastest man in NFL Combine history, Worthy, and the Cowboys’ All-Pro CeeDee Lamb.”
Worthy had a productive career with the Texas Longhorns, compiling 197 receptions for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns. His blazing speed was displayed in the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine with a record 4.21-second 40-yard dash.
Even with the excitement for his speed, the Cowboys have some big shoes to fill along the offensive line. Center Tyler Biadasz inked a three-year, $30 million deal to join the division rival Washington Commanders. Offensive tackle Tyron Smith signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets.

J.K. Dobbins Could Rehab Career With Dallas
PFN’s Dallas Robinson believes that free agent running back J.K. Dobbins would be a good fit for the Cowboys. Dobbins, 25, was selected with the 55th overall selection of the 2020 NFL Draft and has dealt with injuries throughout his four-year career. He missed the entirety of the 2021 season with a torn ACL and missed all but one game in 2023 with a torn Achilles.
“Dallas has signed just one external free agent — LB Eric Kendricks — since the market opened last week,” Robinson wrote. “Jerry Jones and Co. should have their eyes peeled for offensive line upgrades, but we’re prioritizing a new RB for the Cowboys following the loss of Tony Pollard.
“Injuries have limited Dobbins to just 24 of a possible 67 games since entering the NFL in 2020, but he’s always been effective when on the field. In eight games in 2022, Dobbins finished second in the NFL in evaded tackles per touch, while PFF charted him with nine runs of 15+ yards.”
Dobbins has shown that he can be a key contributor from the running back position when he’s healthy. He had 134 carries for 805 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie in 2020 and averages a career 5.8 yards per attempt. Coming to Dallas and taking a “prove it” deal would be an option for the Texas native.
