According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, a team source has indicated to him that the Miami Dolphins are interested in signing former Pro Bowl and Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. during the free agency period.
CBS NFL Insider Josina Anderson reported that Beckham is currently planning to visit the Dolphins on Thursday.
Miami Dolphins Pursuing Odell Beckham Jr.
Jackson reported that the Dolphins are “interested in” Beckham, citing that Beckham is “a player they really like.”
This comes as the team restructured the contract of edge rusher Bradley Chubb, which freed up $11 million in salary cap space. While this can be used to keep some players from signing elsewhere, Jackson reported that the team will still have “something left” for new signings.
Beckham, 31, returned to the field in 2023 after taking the entire 2022 season to recover from an ACL injury he sustained during Super Bowl 56. In the 2023 season, Beckham played in 14 games and helped the Baltimore Ravens capture the AFC’s top seed heading into the playoffs.
Last season, Beckham caught 35 balls for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 regular season games played. Before his time in Baltimore, the three-time Pro Bowl receiver caught 27 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns while playing eight games for the Los Angeles Rams after being traded from the Cleveland Browns halfway through the 2021 season.
Beckham has 7,932 receiving yards in his career with 59 touchdowns and adds seven career postseason games to his experience.
Dolphins Wide Receiver Room
If Miami signs Beckham, he will likely be asked to reprise the role he had in Los Angeles and Baltimore as a No. 3 option. The Dolphins’ receiving corps is currently led by Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who both went over 1,000 yards receiving in 2023.
The Dolphins lost receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. to the New Orleans Saints via free agency this offseason but did re-sign Braxton Berrios to a one-year deal four days ago.

Beckham will turn 32 years old halfway through the 2024 NFL season; however, his veteran presence could prove to be valuable if the Dolphins do decide to sign him to a deal this offseason.
Since trading for Hill in 2022, the Dolphins have had arguably the best WR tandem in the NFL between Hill and Waddle. They target both players at an exceptionally high rate, and the pair have racked up 5,879 yards and 32 receiving touchdowns as a result.
In that time frame, the Dolphins’ offense jumped from 25th in the NFL in 2021 to sixth in 2022 to first in 2023.
Miami has made the playoffs each of the last two seasons but has failed to win a postseason game since 2000.
