Jerry Jeudy went from being sent to the Cleveland Browns to sparking strong debates about the contract he’s now been given.
Jeudy, who was traded by the Denver Broncos this offseason following a disappointing four-season run there, signed a stunning $58,000,000 deal Tuesday, officially becoming a member of the Browns. His new, stunning deal had the NFL world sharing a mix of praise and the word “overpay.”
‘Holy Overpay’ Among the Notable Reactions
With Jeudy earning the contract he received with the Browns, it likely emphasizes him as key to opening up their aerial attack.
However, some fans believe the wideout with zero career 1,000-yard seasons is earning too much money — with one fan typing in big bold letters “Holy overpay” on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Fantasy football analyst Kyle Yates admitted he was not expecting that kind of money for Jeudy. In fact, Jeudy’s contract nearly mirrors what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rewarded perennial Pro Bowler Mike Evans this offseason — which was a two-year deal worth $52 million he signed on March 4.
“Not on my radar,” Yates said regarding Jeudy’s mega deal.
Jerry Jeudy signing a contract extension this offseason that's reportedly around $1,000,000 less per year than Mike Evans' contract was not on my radar.

Jeudy not long ago was labeled “just another guy” by NFL legend Steve Smith Sr.; the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens star blasted the former first-round selection for underperforming. But as it turns out, Jeudy became worthy of a wealthy $58 million contract in the eyes of Cleveland.
Meanwhile, a Broncos fan was another who called it an overpaying move on the Browns’ end.

Jeudy Has Backers of Deal: ‘There’s Still a Very Good WR in There’
While Jeudy and the Browns have their critics, he does have his backers, including the ones who believe he has earned every penny in this new contract. One is Cleveland sports media personality Nick Pedone.
“I’m not sure we’ve seen Jerry Jeudy’s full potential. There’s still a very good wide receiver in there,” Pedone posted.

One Browns fan is greatly welcoming Jeudy into the Dawg Pound. There’s the additional belief that Jeudy is capable of recapturing his explosive form from his Alabama Crimson Tide days.

On the side of the Browns, general manager Andrew Berry was among the men responsible for making the deal happen. Berry even has the perspective that Jeudy still has his best football ahead of him — despite the dismal results from Denver.
“At 24 years old and just entering his prime, we are pleased to have Jerry as a member of the Browns for the next several seasons and believe the best is yet to come,” Berry said via Camryn Justice of ABC 5 Cleveland.

Broncos reporter for Sports Illustrated’s Fan Nation Zack Kelberman found himself happy for both Jeudy and Denver. The latter, though, he found himself more elated for due to the monetary aspect.
Wish Jerry Jeudy well in Cleveland.
But I am grateful the #Broncos didn’t cut that check.

Jeudy has caught 211 total passes for 3,053 yards with 11 touchdowns. He’s averaged only 52.75 receptions and 763.25 yards per season. He’s never reached past 972 receiving yards or has scored more than six times in a season.
