Bills’ Stefon Diggs Fuels Trade Speculation with Viral Cryptic Post

Bills receiver Stefon Diggs is back to creating buzz on social media as he posted a cryptic message that is further fueling trade rumors.

Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs has created a buzz on social media with a pair of posts he made on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

Stefon Diggs Makes Cryptic Social Media Post

Several years ago, Diggs took to social media to complain about wanting to be on a new team, which led him to be traded by the Minnesota Vikings to the Bills.

The 30-year-old wide receiver has been at the center of trade rumors since last year.

On Friday morning, Diggs posted a heart emoji on X. Five hours later, the nine-year NFL veteran followed up the post with the three words, “Ready for watever.”

During a recent interview on the Up & Adams show, Diggs said he wants to “retire a Bill” but then stated it’s “always going to be family no matter how it shakes.”

“Yeah. I’ve said that,” Diggs said. “Interview after interview I’ve said I want to retire a Bill.”

Diggs had a disappointing second half to the 2023 season after recording 100+ yards in five of the first six games. He recorded just over 50 receiving yards in two of his last eight games.

The Bills were defeated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. In two playoff games, Diggs posted 10 receptions and 72 receiving yards. He finished the regular season with 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns

The Bills are in the midst of a major restructuring ahead of the 2024 NFL season. After releasing six veterans to get cap-compliant, Buffalo also said goodbye to numerous players in free agency.

    Potential Diggs Suitors

NFL fans from other teams have started to chime in for Diggs to join them.

If Diggs does not return to the Bills, the team may want to get premium compensation for him as he is one of the best receivers in the league currently.

There are teams near the bottom of the pack that will want him to become competitive, while those in the middle will hope he makes them contenders. Those that are nearly there, like the Baltimore Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers, will want to have him to finally get over the top.

But whether they will be willing to pay a premium rate remains to be seen. This year’s NFL Draft is one of the deepest in terms of wide receivers, which could lower Diggs’ value in the market.

A team like the Carolina Panthers could greatly benefit from acquiring a weapon for Bryce Young. Hiring Dave Canales helps, but several more moves still need to be made in Carolina.

They say if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, and Diggs has never gotten past the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. The Chiefs do not have a top receiver outside of tight end Travis Kelce, but the odds of the Bills trading Diggs to their AFC rival are unlikely.

The Dallas Cowboys seem like an obvious option, as Diggs’ brother Trevon has been vocal in hoping his team makes a move for his brother. The Cowboys have a strong receiver in CeeDee Lamb, but Diggs would give Dallas another weapon for Dak Prescott and would further bolster their offense.
