Free agency is almost upon us, and the Philadelphia Eagles, as always, aren’t expected to be passive when it does.
Whether it’s addressing the defense as a whole or filling out minor holes on the offensive end, general manager Howie Roseman has over $40 million in cap space and is among the most aggressive executives across the league. It’s a perfect combination for Philadelphia to improve on their 11-6 mark from last season.
Eagles Free Agency Predictions
If we’re debating which position is the biggest need for Philadelphia, almost every defensive role has something the team needs to address. Whether it was their 26th-ranked pass rush last season or the secondary that was among the worst in football, there are plenty of holes on the defensive side.
With just a few moments away from the start of free agency, we’re going to give our final prediction as to who the Eagles will target.
Azeez Al-Shaair
Philadelphia needs to address the linebacker room in a major way as only Nakobe Dean is locked up as a potential starter. Azeez Al-Shaair, one of the more underrated players at the position, is expected to be available with plenty of teams having interest.
He’s not the big name Patrick Queen is, but Al-Shaair is the kind of sideline-to-sideline player the Eagles desperately need at the position. It would be their biggest investment at the position since signing Nigel Bradham in free agency.
Justin Simmons
The writing is pretty much on the wall here. While Simmons is 31 years old, he’s still a Pro Bowl-caliber safety and commanded the respect of new Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
The Fangio quarters defense requires the use of talented safeties to compete in the back end. Getting arguably the best one makes a lot of sense for the organization.
Jon Runyan Jr.
Sua Opeta is set to hit free agency and the Eagles may want another year for third-rounder Tyler Steen. Should that happen, signing a veteran guard makes a lot of sense for an offensive line trying to find answers after Jason Kelce’s retirement.
Runyan’s history with the Eagles is well-documented, and it could set up nicely for the whole family to be back in the city where his father was a Pro Bowl-caliber player.
Jonathan Greenard
Bryce Huff could be the edge rusher that the Eagles target. His asking price might also be too high for the organization.
That begs the question of what will happen with Jonathan Greenard. The former Texan is set to hit the open market, is only 26, and is coming off a season with 12.5 sacks. If Huff’s contract demands are too steep, bringing in Greenard for the type of contract Haason Reddick received might be what Philadelphia looks for to solve their pass-rushing woes.
D’Andre Swift
Philadelphia will be addressing the running back market in free agency. The only question will be which running back lowers his offer enough for the Eagles to swoop in and get a deal done.
While big names like Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, and Josh Jacobs are expected to get big-time money on a short deal, players like Swift could be overlooked.

The Eagles liked what they had in Swift in 2023 and could decide to bring him back on another short deal this offseason.
