Current Draft Projection and Summary
McMahon has NFL-ready fundamentals, but his lack of an NFL frame makes him a difficult projection.
He lacks the length to reach and connect with NFL defensive linemen, and his lack of mass shows up when he battles bull rushers.
McMahon is a tremendous athlete, but he will have to get significantly bigger in the NFL to help his anchor. He struggles to really create lanes and clear out defenders on down blocks, but he can reach and move, making him a good fit in an outside zone-oriented offense.
McMahon has tremendous fundamentals and is a smart player with one of the most versatile profiles in this draft class, boasting extensive experience at three different positions. That alone will appeal to NFL scouts, but you can see he is a savvy veteran who has seen it all at the collegiate level.
The athleticism McMahon showed at the Combine wasn’t a fluke either, as he climbs well to the second level and consistently catches defenders there, is quick off of the line of scrimmage, and has the change-of-direction skills to pick up pass rushers moving across his frame.
McMahon’s skill set and versatility will keep him in the league as a swing backup, but he has to add more mass to his frame to grow beyond serving as just a backup center prospect.

Centers with his frame don’t often get drafted, but McMahon’s versatility, athleticism, and fundamental floor make him a different prospect than most. If he does get drafted, expect his name to come off the board on Day 3.
