Top RAS Results at the 2024 NFL Combine by Position
RAS is a tool used to measure a player’s overall athleticism, combining results in multiple categories to create an overall score. The concept was developed by Kent Lee Platte, who wanted to construct an easy-to-understand metric that encapsulated a player’s relative athleticism.
To get the score, a player’s measurables and athletic testing are individually graded out of 10. The score is produced based on what percentile the measurement is in each relevant position.
For example, if a player runs a 40-yard dash in the 99th percentile for their position, that player will score 9.9 for that metric. All scores for each measurement are then combined and averaged to create their overall RAS.
The maximum a player can score is 10.00, and multiple prospects have reached that feat. WR Calvin Johnson, QB Anthony Richardson, DB Jeremy Chinn, and CB Deonte Banks are among the names to receive a 10.00 RAS.
With each player having their own RAS, it is a great mechanism to compare and contrast the relative athleticism against their peers and previous classes.
With athleticism mattering more than ever in today’s NFL, have any of the 2024 NFL Combine participants reached a perfect score?
