Despite Skipping Workouts During the NFL Combine, Chicago Bears Fans Prefer Caleb Williams

    Published on

He was absent from on-field work during the NFL Combine, yet it didn't matter for Chicago Bears fans as they're selecting him far more than any other QB.

We all figured it wouldn’t happen, but as the 2024 NFL Combine came and went for quarterbacks, both fans and media saw very little of prospective first-overall pick QB Caleb Williams. The former USC quarterback was the talk of the town in Indianapolis during the Combine and will likely continue to be until he’s off the board in April.

For Chicago Bears fans, he continues to be the landslide favorite among those using the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator.

Chicago Bears Fans Prefer Caleb Williams During NFL Combine

The Bears fans have made their preferences known: They want a new quarterback for the 2024 season. So here we are, just a month and a half ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, and Bears fans are putting action behind their words.

Using the data behind the PFN Mock Draft Simulator, it’s evident that Chicago fans are ready to hear Williams’ name atop the draft.

As we entered Combine week, Williams was the preferred pick by Bears’ fans by the largest margin since the season ended and Chicago locked up the first overall selection. Combining the data, Bears fans are selecting Williams 300% more than any other quarterback with the first overall selection.

In fact, only LSU QB Jayden Daniels cracks the list of top-drafted players by Bears fans, coming in all the way down at 28th most-selected player.

This, of course, comes as Williams was set to not test during the Combine week, electing to wait until his Pro Day at USC to do on-field work in front of scouts. Williams was asked about his decision not to hit the field with the rest of the quarterbacks in Indianapolis, stating it was a decision he and his team made collectively.

It’s clear that Williams did plenty during his college career to warrant that first-overall pick, but it’s even more clear that Bears fans are ready to move on with Williams as the face of their franchise.
