Tyreek Hill has been lighting it up for the Miami Dolphins over the last two seasons, but before that, he was a star receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs. His lengthy Chiefs career came to an end following a trade to Miami after the 2021 season.
However, it wasn’t always a guarantee it’d be Miami. According to Hill, if a certain celebrity gave him a call, he would have been traded to a different AFC East team.
Is Adam Sandler at Fault for Tyreek Hill to Miami?
March 23, 2022, was the day Hill started a new era. Hill was traded to Miami for five draft picks — 2022 first-, second-, and fourth-round picks as well as 2023 fourth- and sixth-round picks. However, it was widely known that he was choosing between Miami and the New York Jets before the trade. “I was almost a New York Jet, man,” Hill said.
“I’m a huge Adam Sandler guy, and Adam Sandler loves the New York Jets,” Hill said on the Punch Line Podcast, sharing that Sandler could’ve changed the direction of his career. “My request was, if Adam Sandler was to call me and ask me to come play for the Jets, I would have went.”

Sandler has been active as an actor, comedian, writer, producer, and musician since 1987 until present day.
He’s appeared in over 60 different films and 15 television series. He’s been nominated for three Grammy Awards, five Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
One of Sandler’s more infamous movies in recent memory was a movie he produced and acted in called “Hustle”. The movie came out in 2022 and told the story of a jaded international NBA scout searching for and finding a future star.
“I wanted to play in Hustle,” Hill said. “I love Adam Sandler, bruh. He could have made a football Hustle movie.”
Hill has been in the NFL for eight seasons, putting together a Hall of Fame-caliber career. He has 717 career receptions for 10,139 yards and 79 touchdowns. However, his two seasons with Miami in 2022 and 2023 were both career years. He caught 119 passes in both seasons for 1,710 and 1,799 yards, respectively, and 20 touchdowns (seven and 13).

When he was traded to the Dolphins, Hill signed a four-year, $120 million deal that included $72.2 million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $30 million. He’s set to make $19.6 million in 2024 and then $21.8 million and $43.9 million in 2025 and 2026. The Dolphins do, however, have a potential out after 2024.
