Frank Gore Jr. Talks About How He Compares To His Legendary Father

Frank Gore Jr. confirmed that he has met with the San Francisco 49ers at the NFL Combine. Could he get drafted by his father's former team?

Former NFL running back Frank Gore Sr. is the franchise leader in rushing yards (11,073) and rushing touchdowns (64) for the San Francisco 49ers. While Gore went on to play for the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets, his career will always be remembered for his production as a 49er. His son, 2024 NFL Draft prospect RB Frank Gore Jr., has reportedly met with his father’s long-time team at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

Frank Gore Jr. Is Looking To Follow in His Father’s Footsteps

Chat Sports’ Chase Senior reported that Gore Jr. has informally met with the 49ers. At the NFL Combine during his media availability, Gore Jr. addressed similarities in his style of play to his father.

“I’m pretty similar to my dad,” Gore Jr. said. “We have our similarities, but we’re also different in a way. But I’d say we’re similar in a way. He groomed me, so of course we’re similar … I’m more agile — a little more lateral movement. He’s more of a thumper. Other than that, we’re pretty similar.”

Listed at 5’9″ and 212 pounds, former Miami Hurricanes star Gore Sr. compiled a total of 3,735 carries for 16,000 rushing yards and 81 rushing touchdowns. He also had 484 receptions for 3,985 receiving yards and 18 receiving touchdowns in his 16-year career.

As for his accomplishments, Gore Sr. was a five-time Pro Bowl selection, named to the Hall of Fame’s All-2010s Team, and was the 2006 Pro Football Writers of America Most Improved Player.

During Gore. Jr’s media availability at the NFL Combine, he was asked to give his top-five running backs of all time, and not surprisingly, he ranked his dad as the best.

At the NFL Combine on Friday, Gore Sr. was shown watching his son with 49ers GM John Lynch.

While Gore Jr. was invited to participate in the NFL Combine, his draft stock doesn’t appear to be very high. In Pro Football Network’s A.J. Schulte’s latest seven-round NFL Mock Draft, Gore Jr. goes undrafted. Regardless of when or if he gets drafted, it would be a great story to see Gore Jr. land with his dad’s former team.
