When it comes to the NFL offseason, trade rumors begin to run rampant — even more so as the beginning of the new league year gets closer and the start of the free agency period opens.
Rumors that had been circulating around the NFL were that the Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings could both be willing to part ways with their star wide receivers.
As the NFL world convenes in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine, questions regarding Davante Adams and Justin Jefferson were directly asked to both Raiders general manager Tom Telesco and Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Each was very firm in their response regarding the availability of their star wide receivers.
Raiders and Vikings GMs Put End to Trade Rumors
While it seems that Adams has been in the news as a possible trade target for an entire season now, it looks like the speculation can once and for all be put to bed. When asked directly about Adams and his availability via trade this offseason, Telesco was crystal clear with their plans.

“Raiders GM Tom Telesco has no plans to trade WR Davante Adams this off-season. ‘He’s a Raider,’ Telesco told reporters,” said ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
There have long been rumors that Adams wanted out of Vegas for a situation more built to win now. There have even been rumblings of him wanting to reunite with Aaron Rodgers in New York.
Ultimately, it looks as if all that talk is in the past, and the Raiders are now moving forward with Adams in the fold for the future.
As for the Vikings, the idea of moving on from Jefferson always seemed like something almost inconceivable. For Adofo-Mensah, it was something that was not at all true.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said "a lot of the stuff" he has heard about the Justin Jefferson contract negotiations is "completely false." Said the sides got "unbelievably close" to a deal last summer and reiterates that the team wants him "around for a long time."

“Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said ‘a lot of the stuff’ he has heard about the Justin Jefferson contract negotiations is ‘completely false.’ Said the sides got ‘unbelievably close’ to a deal last summer and reiterates that the team wants him ‘around for a long time,'” states ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.
The Vikings GM went on to add just how absurd the idea was for him and the team to think about moving on from their star WR.
“That is not something that’s once crossed my mind. You got a blue[-chip] player, a blue[-chip] person, you try to keep as many of those as you can.”

While these rumors were percolating around the league, it looks as if both general managers took the first opportunity presented to them to put the fire out early, turning their focus to keeping their star players happy and helping build a team that looks to raise their level in 2024 and beyond.
