The Cleveland Browns‘ passing offense went through a carousel of numerous different starting quarterbacks throughout the 2023 NFL season, which didn’t exactly make it easy for young receivers to develop rapport and consistency with their quarterback.
After the Browns traded away WR Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions ahead of the NFL trade deadline last year, is Cedric Tillman a great buy-low option at the WR position in dynasty fantasy football leagues heading into his second season?
Cedric Tillman’s Dynasty Outlook
When taking a closer look at Tillman’s rookie production, it can be very easy to come up with reasons why he had a very limited impact in 2023.

QBs Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and PJ Walker all spent a significant amount of time under center last season, which definitely made the Browns’ passing game a bit inconsistent in 2023.
In addition, Tillman was pretty low in the Browns’ pass-catching pecking order, working behind WR Amari Cooper, TE David Njoku, WR Elijah Moore, and even Peoples-Jones to start the season.

His 21 receptions for 224 yards with no scores made no impact in the fantasy world last year, but he did manage to see 4+ targets in five of his final seven games of the season. The expansion of his role in the passing game over the back half of the year certainly suggests his role could grow in 2024.
Tillman is a talented receiver who boasted an encouraging prospect profile entering the NFL. His disappointing production last season shouldn’t factor too much into his potential outlook moving into 2024 and beyond in this Cleveland offense.

Tillman still possesses all of the traits of an effective outside wide receiver who can win vertically heading into his second NFL season.
Unfortunately, the same limitations that existed last year could very well limit his ceiling in 2024. We still don’t have a great idea of what to expect from Watson under center, and Tillman will still be competing for targets with Cooper, Njoku, and Moore next year.

If you are a shareholder of Tillman, then I would classify him more as a strong hold than someone I want to trade away at this time. His current value falls around a mid-third-round pick for upcoming rookie drafts. That really isn’t enough of an enticing price point to part ways with his potential upside at this very moment.
Personally, I am a bit more interested in acquiring Tillman at that price point.
