Jayden Daniels to the Giants Headlines Latest NFL Draft Rumors from Daniel Jeremiah

With Jayden Daniels potentially off the board at their pick, Daniel Jeremiah outlined the cost for the New York Giants to trade up for the quarterback.

After a disappointing 2023 season, could the New York Giants be searching for QB Daniel Jones’ replacement this offseason? As NFL Draft rumors intensify, one expert isn’t ruling out the possibility of LSU’s Jayden Daniels, but the Giants would have to trade to get him. Here’s how they can get in position to draft the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.

NFL Draft Expert Daniel Jeremiah Outlines Jayden Daniels to Giants Possibility

On Thursday afternoon, NFL Network draft expert Daniel Jeremiah spoke to reporters via conference call about upcoming draft possibilities, including ones that involve the Giants’ sixth overall selection in the draft.

Jeremiah isn’t ruling out Daniels falling to No. 6 or even heading to New York in general. The longtime draft analyst and insider outlined how the Giants could end up coming away with the dynamic passer.

Long story short, the Giants may have to resort to relinquishing their spot and trade up to nab Daniels, which would require sacrificing a lot of draft capital in the process.

“For the Giants to get up to the third pick, you’re talking about the sixth overall pick this year. You’re also talking about your second-round pick at No. 39 this year, then your second second-round pick this year at 47, and next year’s two [2025 second-rounder],” Jeremiah said.

That basically means the Giants, collectively, will be surrendering four different draft picks to land at No. 3.

While they do land a potential franchise quarterback with seemingly far more upside than Jones, in Jeremiah’s scenario, New York would be down to only five selections for the ’24 draft. If they were to make this hypothetical trade-up for Daniels, they wouldn’t be on the clock again until the 70th pick in the third round.

With or without this proposal, does Jeremiah envision any kind of scenario where Daniels lands on the Giants?

“I would not rule that out,” Jeremiah told reporters. “I know you got one more year of Daniel Jones out of that contract. But I think that would be something that would be very much in play.”

In PFN’s latest mock draft, Joe Broback had Daniels going third overall to the New England Patriots, further confirming the belief that the Giants may have to trade up in order to select the former LSU quarterback.
