Sunday began with dynasty chatter attached to the Kansas City Chiefs. It ends with that “D word” getting more magnified.
In dramatic fashion, much like their previous two Super Bowl wins, the Chiefs came from behind to secure this title. Only this time, K.C. needed overtime to seal the 25-22 thriller over the San Francisco 49ers.
Kansas City has now secured its third title since the 2019 NFL season. The Chiefs also produce their first back-to-back champions in franchise history. Social media was abuzz for the way the Chiefs stayed composed against a feisty 49ers group. And the same realm was also reacting to the dynasty chatter.
Patrick Mahomes Shows ‘Ice in Veins’ Moments
Reminiscent of last year’s Super Bowl over the Philadelphia Eagles, which involved an epic scramble. Patrick Mahomes turned to his legs with the title on the line.
Only this time, his “ice in the veins” moment came with the Chiefs down by three in overtime.
Ultimately, Mahomes turned to his right arm and eyes to find a wide-open Mecole Hardman all alone in the end zone.
Who would’ve guessed Mecole Hardman would score the game-winning TD? 🤯

Mahomes’ instant reaction? He was more impressed by how his team never faltered at any point in the game — let alone the season.
However, CBS Sports sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson fired off the question many fans have had on their mind: Is this a dynasty now?
Mahomes Answers Dynasty Question, Social Media Reacts
Mahomes didn’t take any pauses nor did he opt to deflect Wolfson’s question. He went straight-shooter for the “dynasty” answer.
“Yeah,” Mahomes quickly answered. “It’s the start of one.”
Along came one more message Mahomes sent that reverberated across the league.
“We’re not done,” Mahomes said. “I know we’re going to celebrate tonight, then celebrate this in Kansas City, but we’re not done.”

Right away, the “dynasty” chatter showed up across social media. Three-time Super Bowl winner turned media personality Shannon Sharpe was one who believes the Chiefs are an official dynasty. He posted this on his Club Shay Shay X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Mahomes’ own alma mater Texas Tech is another one that placed “dynasty” in its caption for this post.

The Kansas City Royals were another figure to put the word in their X caption while congratulating their fellow K.C. sports neighbor. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter had that same word in his X post after the Chiefs won.

Even U.S. President Joe Biden was one who believes the Chiefs have reached the dynasty moniker.
“With their third Super Bowl win in just five seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t just champions today – they’re a dynasty. Congratulations, Chiefs Kingdom. Ready to welcome this team back to the White House,” Biden posted.
But while Mahomes had to answer the word, what did one other prominent member of this current Chiefs run Travis Kelce have to say about the new label officially plastered on his team? Kelce is allowing the outside world to call it how they want it.
“I don’t care what they call us. Won back-to-back and three of last four. Call us whatever you want,” Kelce said via PFN’s David Bearman.
