In theory, the Gabe Davis dynasty ranking should be straightforward as he has given us 35-48 catches while averaging 15.7-17.4 yards per catch with 6-7 TD receptions in all four of his NFL seasons.
The problem, of course, is that his week-over-week consistency is non-existent, and his route tree hasn’t expanded with time.
Should dynasty fantasy football managers expect anything different as Davis enters his age-25 season with his largest expected target share to date as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars? Or will he continue to be the boom-bust option that we’ve seen up to this point?
Gabe Davis’ Dynasty Outlook
If you’ve yet to roster Davis, you probably have experienced less fantasy football-related stress than the rest of us.
The former fourth-round pick out of Central Florida has run at least 30 routes in 34 games during his rollercoaster of a career:
- Seven games over 19.5 half-PPR fantasy points
- 10 games under 5.0 half-PPR fantasy points
Last season was a perfect snapshot of what he has done up to this point in the NFL.
- He scored in four consecutive games, and three times in his other 13 appearances.
- In Weeks 12 and 16, he cruised past 100 yards and scored, and in the two games in the middle, he was shut out on three total targets.
- In the semifinals of your fantasy league, he gave you 21.0 fantasy points, and he followed with a 3.1-point stinker during your Super Bowl.
The worst part? His production is random. At least, I haven’t yet been able to crack the code.

Davis doesn’t consistently excel in great matchups or struggle in poor ones. He didn’t see his usage spike as Diggs struggled in the second half of last season.
For the majority of 2023, Diggs was a “produce at home, underachieve on the road” option, but once we identified that, he gave us two catches on four targets in total over his final two home games.

Should You Trade Davis in Dynasty?

It’s possible that Davis’ role will grow in 2024, and that more consistent volume will result in production that is something close to stable.
The profile looks good on paper — he plays for a pass-centric offense that is lacking an alpha WR1 and has a franchise quarterback who is more than willing to be aggressive.
Davis still has my interest in redraft leagues, but dynasty formats are a different beast. His lack of stability makes him a tough sell for win-now teams, while his lack of growth over four seasons, even at his age, makes him not the type of player that rebuilding teams are interested in.

Should you trade him? If you can acquire some draft assets, I would. Is that realistic? You don’t know until you try.
Davis is more like the type of player that I’d be looking to move in-season after consecutive good games — sell him at peak value to a team that feels it is one piece away from making a true title run. In doing this, you extract as much as you can from a player that is unlikely to turn into a consistent fantasy starter.
