Joe Broback’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Caleb Williams Saves the Bears, Marvin Harrison Jr. Joins Kyler Murray in Arizona

    Published on

As the NFL season nears an end, this 2024 NFL Mock Draft looks at what each team will do in the first round to build towards next year.

With just the Super Bowl remaining in the season, nearly everyone has their sights set on the offseason. Our latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft looks at how each team could address roster concerns or bolster potentially elite units come April in the 2024 NFL Draft.

    2024 NFL Mock Draft

    1) Chicago Bears (From CAR): Caleb Williams, QB, USC

One of the biggest questions for the Chicago Bears organization is what they’ll do with Justin Fields. Ryan Poles faces a difficult decision, and what he decides could determine who goes first overall. If Fields is their guy, they should move back and get more picks, but in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, they replace him.

Caleb Williams should infuse excitement into the Bears’ offense. He’s a player who has a special skill set, making incredible plays with both his arm and legs. Many believe Williams is the top quarterback in this class, and now he heads to Chicago.

    2) Washington Commanders: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

Sam Howell showed signs of improvement last year, but is it enough to keep him around in Washington? In this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, the answer is emphatically no. The former Tar Heels passer finds himself as a mentor for the man who replaced him in Chapel Hill.

Drake Maye can sling it. It’s easy to watch him at North Carolina and get the sense he’ll be a special player. It’s a big reason why he’s a top-two pick. Maye can make any throw on the field and brings underrated athleticism to an offense that could be one of the best in the league.

    3) New England Patriots: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

The debate about the third-best QB will rage on, and the New England Patriots are in a tough spot if they don’t like their options. It’s obvious that two quarterbacks stand out from the rest in this class, and Jerod Mayo must decide if he likes a third enough to take him here. If not, New England has multiple options.

Drafting Joe Alt with this pick might not spark much enthusiasm from the fan base, but it’s the right move. Unless Mayo and his staff see something in Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr., or another passer, trading back or addressing other needs will be prioritized. Alt gives New England a massive tackle who can make their future QB — whoever that is — better.

    4) Arizona Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

Kyler Murray needs weapons, and the Arizona Cardinals are in a great position to make that happen. If you give Murray someone like Marvin Harrison Jr., you can expect the offense to improve.

Harrison gives them a serious vertical threat who can make any catch asked of him. He also opens up the offense to make Arizona’s other targets even more dangerous.

    5) Los Angeles Chargers: Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State

Some analysts believe that Jared Verse is the best edge player in the 2024 NFL Draft class. After his devastatingly dominant career across two programs, there’s plenty of evidence to back that up.

From his size and explosiveness to his attitude, Verse brings plenty to the table for an NFL team. New head coach Jim Harbaugh developed multiple difference-makers on the edge at Michigan and needs someone of that caliber for the Chargers. Verse opposite Joey Bosa would be a monster combination for that defense.

    6) New York Giants: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

New York’s passing attack has some enticing potential, and they find the missing piece of the puzzle in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft. The fan base is excited about the future of Jalin Hyatt, and pairing him with Rome Odunze furthers that notion.

Odunze gives them a big-body receiver who’s a smooth operator. He’s not a burner like Hyatt, but he gives the Giants a different degree downfield. If New York doesn’t want to trade up for a quarterback, it can give Daniel Jones a great group of pass catchers.

    7) Tennessee Titans: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

It’s no secret that the Tennessee Titans need help on the offensive line, so seeing them take one here wouldn’t be a shock. Olu Fashanu has the tools to be in the league for a long time, and the right coaching would make him a star.

    8) Atlanta Falcons: Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa

There is still little consensus around Cooper DeJean, but the Iowa Hawkeyes standout can flat-out play. He’s an athletic playmaker who could play either corner or safety in the NFL, which is a lucrative option for the team that drafts him.

    9) Chicago Bears: Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA

Montez Sweat gave the Bears a great season, and teams had to double-team him to keep their offense moving. If Chicago adds another weapon on the edge, then Sweat could have an even bigger impact in 2024.

Laiatu Latu brings a top-10 talent to the Bears in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft. He boasts a strong pass-rush arsenal while bringing solid size to the defense. There are concerns about neck and spine injuries, but clearing medicals will pave the way for a long NFL career.

    10) New York Jets: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

It became abundantly clear that Garrett Wilson wants better things in 2024, and the Jets work towards that goal with this pick. Wilson gets Aaron Rodgers back at quarterback next year, but the franchise needs wide receiver help for their offense.

Malik Nabers gives New York another big-time threat catching passes and a great complement to Wilson. Nabers was dangerous — and productive — after the catch for LSU, and he could thrive with the Jets in a similar role.

    11) Minnesota Vikings: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

The Minnesota Vikings’ QB situation will be closely monitored by many. Will Kirk Cousins come back? Does Minnesota go after someone like Baker Mayfield? Do they take a quarterback in the draft regardless? The Vikings need to find a long-term solution at the position, and they have plenty of options.

MORE: Will Vikings Draft a Quarterback?

Jayden Daniels took a huge step as a player in 2023 — a huge reason he’s considered a potential first-round pick. He’s a dynamic dual-threat passer who found the confidence to let it fly in the Tigers’ offense. Kevin O’Connell should be able to build off that in his system, and Daniels should feel comfortable throwing to a trio of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson.

    12) Denver Broncos: Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

With Patrick Surtain II locking down one side of the ball, the Denver Broncos add another former Alabama cornerback to help him in.

Kool-Aid McKinstry can be a lockdown corner for Denver, making life difficult for the teams trying to throw against them. McKinstry would also develop alongside Surtain, giving this secondary a bright future.

    13) Las Vegas Raiders: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

Terrion Arnold plays the game with a chip on his shoulder, which helped him break out in 2023. He’s an aggressive player who doesn’t second guess his reads, and the right coaching staff should be able to develop him into a star.

Las Vegas taking another corner in the first round might give the fan base some anxiety, but Arnold should ease those concerns. Yes, he needs to iron out some things in his game, but he has a good foundation to build upon at the next level.

    14) New Orleans Saints: Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama

New Orleans drafted a few physical players in years past, and they can continue that trend here, adding Alabama standout Dallas Turner to their defensive front.

The star pass rusher can bully his opponent thanks to the power in his frame, and that physicality will help him thrive in the NFL. He’ll learn from veteran Cameron Jordan too, and that knowledge will help facilitate a long NFL career.

    15) Indianapolis Colts: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Indianapolis has a good thing going with quarterback Anthony Richardson, so building around him should be a priority. When healthy, Richardson gives them an electric player with limitless upside, and the offense has plenty of pieces to help.

Here, the Colts add a big body with freakish tendencies like Richardson. Keon Coleman stands 6’4″, and while he’s still developing as a receiver, he’s taken steps in the last year to show that he’s NFL-ready. The Richardson/Coleman connection could be lethal, and the fan base is ready for an offensive explosion.

    16) Seattle Seahawks: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

While Byron Murphy II isn’t participating in the Senior Bowl this week due to an injury, the Longhorns’ defensive tackle should be good to go for the NFL Combine.

His draft stock has been creeping up lately, and his numbers from the combine should solidify him as a first-round prospect. The Seattle Seahawks get a beast on the interior defensive line, adding to a unit with plenty of promise.

    17) Jacksonville Jaguars: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas

If Calvin Ridley doesn’t return, the Jacksonville Jaguars will need some help at wide receiver. Even if he does come back, drafting a wide receiver should be in their 2024 NFL Draft plan. Trevor Lawrence and the Jags are ready to make a playoff run, so more weapons should help add to the offense’s potency.

Adonai Mitchell had the breakout season many expected in 2023, and now he’s a potential first-round pick. He put plenty on display in his final college campaign, and his performance in the College Football Playoff showed his ceiling. Jacksonville gets a talented receiver whose best football is still ahead of him, making their franchise quarterback happy.

    18) Cincinnati Bengals: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

The Cincinnati Bengals set their sights on 2024 from the minute Joe Burrow went down with an injury, and the offseason will set the tone for this campaign. If Tee Higgins doesn’t return, the Bengals must find a receiving replacement.

While former Georgia tight end Brock Bowers won’t directly replace Higgins, he gives Cincinnati a big-time weapon for Burrow and the offense to utilize. Don’t sleep on Bowers’ contributions in all phases as a willing and capable blocker at the position.

    19) Los Angeles Rams: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

Sean McVay’s squad turned things around quicker than expected, and now they’re looking at bigger goals in 2024. Puka Nacua proved to be a wonderful pick for the team, and they’re hoping that Nate Wiggins can be the same for their defense.

MORE: 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Watchlist

Wiggins broke into the starting lineup at Clemson early in his career because of his exceptional talent. His competitive nature helped him navigate the speed of college football, which will help him thrive at the next level. He doesn’t get fazed by adversity, and his non-stop motor ensures he’ll never give up on a play.

    20) Pittsburgh Steelers: JC Latham, OT, Alabama

There are several reasons to like the potential in Pittsburgh’s offense, but they must upgrade the offensive line this year. JC Latham not only gives them a talented player with good size but also brings versatility with experience at guard.

An injury in the Rose Bowl raised some concerns, but the kid can play with the best prospects in this class. Latham gives the Steelers the upgrade they need, and the offense could be explosive if he transitions to the NFL as expected.

    21) Miami Dolphins: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

The Miami Dolphins’ season came to a screeching halt with the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, but there’s still plenty to love about this team in 2024. With the skill positions mostly set, the Dolphins focus on the offensive line in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

Taliese Fuaga gave Oregon State a tone-setter this past year, and he’ll do the same for Miami. He’s a strong player who’s tough to go around or through. Fuaga’s presence allows Mike McDaniel to open up his playbook, knowing his line will give Tua Tagovaloa time to make plays.

    22) Philadelphia Eagles: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

The Philadelphia Eagles knew there would be a time when they needed to get younger in the secondary, and that time is now. Issues in coverage and tackling ensure a clear need and direction for the Eagles in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

Quinyon Mitchell made life miserable for MAC offenses in recent seasons, and he’s ready to do the same in the NFL. He’s a natural playmaker, and some analysts believe he is the best CB in the draft. The level of competition faced might be a concern, but Mitchell should put those concerns to bed relatively quickly.

    23) Houston Texans (From CLE): Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas

A youth infusion put the Houston Texans into the playoff, and now they add a player who makes the offense even more explosive. Quarterback C.J. Stroud and receiver Tank Dell put a jolt into Houston’s offense this past year, and the franchise is looking to build on that success.

MORE: 2024 NFL Draft Big Board

Xavier Worthy brings sensational speed to Houston, and he’ll stretch the field with that raw ability. Like Dell, he has a concerningly light frame. Fortunately for both, they’re tough players and know how to use their speed to their advantage.

    24) Dallas Cowboys: Graham Barton, G, Duke

The Dallas Cowboys’ disappointing finish leaves them hungry for the 2024 season, and this 2024 NFL Mock Draft helps them by adding to their offensive line. Graham Barton can play any position for the Cowboys, but he’d most likely slide inside to center in Dallas after playing tackle for the Duke Blue Devils in 2023.

    25) Green Bay Packers: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

Jordan Love broke out this year, and the Green Bay Packers fan base hopes to keep that going next year. Giving him help on the offensive line will help. Amarius Mims could be a top-10 pick, but injury concerns might slide him back toward the end of the first round.

Green Bay is happy to scoop him up here, and he provides a long-term option for an offense moving in the right direction.

    26) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the quarterback situation figured out with Mayfield, so they can use the offseason to add further weapons if they re-sign him. With Bowers being the consensus top tight end, guys like Ja’Tavion Sanders are getting overlooked somewhat. While the Texas playmaker must stay healthy, he gives Tampa Bay a talented playmaker who refuses to quit on any play.

    27) Arizona Cardinals (From HOU): Kalen King, CB, Penn State

Arizona pays tribute to the Ohio State-Penn State clashes the past two seasons by taking the players that battled against each other. After taking Harrison with their first pick, they select the guy who troubled him most at the college level: Kalen King.

The former Penn State Nittany Lion can hang with guys like Harrison, and the Cardinals get their future lockdown corner. Iron sharpens iron, as they say, so the practice battles between these two would be entertaining.

    28) Buffalo Bills: Kamren Kinchens, S, Miami

Another team with an aging secondary, the Buffalo Bills look to get younger on the back end of their defense. They add a player in Kamren Kitchens, who was a ball hawk for Miami the past couple of seasons. He should be able to do the same for the Bills at the next level.

    29) Detroit Lions: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

The Detroit Lions’ season didn’t end how they wanted, but they also know what’s needed to improve next year. The pass defense demands upgrading, and drafting a corner is one step in that process.

MORE: 2024 NFL Draft Team Needs

Kamari Lassiter continues flying under the radar this year, but his talent should put him on the map quickly. He joins a Lions defense full of energy and potential, and his talent elevates the entire unit.

    30) Baltimore Ravens: Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington

The Baltimore Ravens have a bad taste in their mouth after coming up short against Kansas City, but now they have to look to the offseason to address some concerns. Even despite his last play, Zay Flowers will be a great player in Baltimore, but the Ravens need to add another player to help him.

Ja’Lynn Polk lived in Odunze’s shadow for most of this year, but he’s a first-round prospect with his frame and big-play ability. The Ravens are always looking to help Lamar Jackson out in the passing game, and Polk will add to an offense with plenty of talent.

    31) Kansas City Chiefs: Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

Despite the failings of those around him, Patrick Mahomes finds a way to win. However, Kansas City should always seek to add pass-catching. Travis Kelce has played well in the playoffs, but the Chiefs need a receiver to step up too. If it doesn’t happen this year, they must find one in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Brian Thomas Jr. had a breakout season with LSU this year thanks to the development of Daniels, and now he’s a potential first-round pick. He’s a great vertical threat for the Chiefs, and he could become a go-to guy for Mahomes early if he can adapt to the NFL game.

    32) San Francisco 49ers: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

With Trent Williams on the roster, adding another tackle feels like a guaranteed win for the San Francisco 49ers. Kingsley Suamataia brings a big frame and a desire to punish his defenders, which already puts him in Williams’ good graces.

Thanks to this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, he gets to learn the nuances of the position in the NFL from the veteran, which adds to this Super Bowl contender’s stacked roster.
