Anthony Miller’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels Dominate at the Top

    Published on

In the latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft, a trio of quarterbacks and multiple elite wide receivers pepper the early selections, but who goes first overall?

The 2024 NFL Draft could be a year where quarterbacks fill the top three spots come April. Despite the depth of this draft at the positions, there is a ton of talent on the offensive line and at wide receiver.

This draft will provide plenty of Day 1 starters next season, and this 2024 NFL Mock Draft explores where some of them might be playing in the next 12 months.

    2024 NFL Mock Draft

While trades are likely to happen, especially with the Chicago Bears holding the No. 1 pick, this 2024 NFL Mock Draft will not include trades. Selections are based on the current order of the draft following the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.

Quarterbacks will be the focus of the draft for many teams, for good reason: there are several who could be future franchise signal-callers.

    1) Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams, QB, USC

Caleb Williams possesses all the traits to be a great NFL quarterback, from arm talent to creative mobility. The Bears already have Justin Fields and would work to move him to another team so they can get their quarterback of the future.

    2) Washington Commanders: Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina

A new era of Washington football begins with a fresh start at quarterback as they replace one former North Carolina Tar Heel passer with another. Drake Maye has all the physical traits and the IQ to be a starting quarterback for a long time.

    3) New England Patriots: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

The most athletically gifted quarterback in the draft is Jayden Daniels, who is elusive and boasts a strong arm. The New England Patriots haven’t had a quarterback quite like the former LSU Tigers dual-threat, making him the perfect fit for new coach Jerod Mayo’s new era of Patriots football.

    4) Arizona Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the most gifted receivers entering the draft in recent years with his great speed, elite route running, and strong hands. Kyler Murray could use some offensive reinforcements, and Harrison makes the Arizona Cardinals’ future look brighter.

    5) Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

Things didn’t go according to plan for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, from Justin Herbert’s injury to the late-season collapse and firing of Brandon Staley. Offensive tackle Joe Alt could help the Chargers’ offensive line that allowed the 13th-most sacks in the NFL. Alt is a future NFL left tackle who provides help for both the ground game and air attack.

    6) New York Giants: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

The New York Giants have questions regarding the quarterback position but could also use some help at receiver.

Malik Nabers is electric and would make for a solid No. 1 receiver on the roster.

    7) Tennessee Titans: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

The Brian Callahan era begins for the Tennessee Titans. His first focus may be to build the offense around second-year quarterback Will Levis. A good way to do that is to bring in an athletic offensive lineman to protect his blind side as well as Olumuyiwa Fashanu can.

    8) Atlanta Falcons: Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama

After Daniels, there are some questions regarding the talent of the quarterbacks in the draft, which leaves Atlanta with the dilemma of taking a chance on one. However, other players can make an immediate impact. Dallas Turner is explosive off the edge and can drop back into coverage, making him a fun prospect to develop in the Micah Parsons mold.

    9) Chicago Bears: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

Chicago found their quarterback of the future with the first pick of this 2024 NFL Mock Draft. Now, they have a chance to find a future No. 1 shutdown cornerback in Terrion Arnold. A combination of quickness, athleticism, and ball-hawking skills makes Arnold an elite corner who helps the Bears secondary.

    10) New York Jets: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

Rome Odunze moves better than most receivers in the draft. His deep-threat ability and pin-perfect route running have provided plenty of highlights. Aaron Rodgers could use some support for Garrett Wilson, and the rest of the New York Jets receiving corps is only getting older.

    11) Minnesota Vikings: Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

Another Alabama Crimson Tide corner who has a chance to make some noise as a CB1 in the NFL falls to 11. Kool-Aid McKinstry helps a Minnesota Vikings defense needing more support in the secondary since Patrick Peterson left after 2022.

    12) Denver Broncos: Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA

Denver lost a lot of good defenders this past season through roster moves, including Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory. Laiatu Latu‘s only concerns come from his injury history. The UCLA pass rusher has so much upside to be an elite pass rusher in the NFL.

    13) Las Vegas Raiders: JC Latham, OT Alabama

If there is anything certain in life, it’s that Alabama produces great offensive linemen. JC Latham is massive and even more athletic than fans would expect from an offensive lineman of his stature. The Las Vegas Raiders could use some help protecting the quarterback and opening up the running game for Josh Jacobs.

    14) New Orleans Saints: Jer’Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois

The Saints need more size on the defensive line, and Jer’Zhan Newton can help with his 6’2″, 295-pound frame.

MORE: Top DTs in the 2024 NFL Draft

Newton’s strength and strong hands make him a force in the middle of the line that can get to the quarterback and clog up running lanes.

    15) Indianapolis Colts: Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State

The Indianapolis Colts were so close to being a playoff team. However, they need some help to provide more pressure on the quarterback to get to the next level. Jared Verse is a freak of nature rushing the passer and could make the Colts’ defensive line elite.

    16) Seattle Seahawks: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

The offensive line could be the position needed for the Seattle Seahawks, but a chance to get an elite pass-catching tight end is hard to pass up. Brock Bowers will have questions surrounding durability, but he is one of the best tight ends to enter the draft in quite some time.

    17) Jacksonville Jaguars: Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa

Iowa’s defense is always among the best in college football, and Cooper DeJean was a big reason the Hawkeyes stopped the passing game in recent years. DeJean is an elite tackler for a corner and can jump on the routes taken in front of him.

    18) Cincinnati Bengals: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

Cincinnati could look to address the offensive line, but in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, they boost their defense with Nate Wiggins — a playmaking turnover machine coming out of Clemson. Wiggins is quick in recognizing and reacting to a play, making him a solid future CB1 for the Bengals.

    19) Los Angeles Rams: Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State

The Los Angeles Rams have waited a long time for a first-round pick, and they could use that to land a great edge rusher in Chop Robinson. The Penn State Nittany Lions rarely disappoint with their defensive players. Robinson uses his speed to fly by blockers to get to the quarterback.

    20) Pittsburgh Steelers: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

Pittsburgh could pick a quarterback and replace either Kenny Pickett or Mason Rudolph, but coach Mike Tomlin likes winning in the trenches. Taliese Fuaga has everything from strength to athleticism to be a good fit on the Steelers’ big offensive line.

    21) Miami Dolphins: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

Giving Tua Tagovailoa as much protection as possible is key to the future Miami Dolphins’ success. Amarius Mims was elite on the line for the Georgia Bulldogs as he is about as athletic as any lineman in the draft.

    22) Philadelphia Eagles: Kamren Kinchens, S, Miami (FL)

Injuries to Avonte Maddox and Darius Slay opened a can of worms on defense for the Philadelphia Eagles as their bid to reach the Super Bowl dramatically fell apart.

Kamren Kinchens is good in coverage and a solid tackler who would be a solid fit alongside Reed Blankenship at safety.

    23) Houston Texans: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

The loss of Tank Dell was tough late in the season for the Houston Texans, but the team showed great potential in the future. C.J. Stroud could get a strong complement for Dell and Nico Collins with Keon Coleman, who has strong hands and is an elite playmaker.

    24) Dallas Cowboys: Troy Fautanu, G, Washington

With Tyron Smith set to enter free agency, opening up the door for Tyler Smith to jump in at left tackle, the Dallas Cowboys could look to add a versatile offensive lineman.

Although he played left tackle for the Washington Huskies, Troy Fautanu is slated to kick inside to guard at the NFL level. His speed and mauling physicality help in both the ground and passing game.

    25) Green Bay Packers: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson

Christian McCaffrey had his way with the Green Bay Packers defense, which has been a weakness for the team all year. Coming from a family of great linebackers, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is instinctive and dominant in tackling, making him a good fit for the physicality Green Bay needs.

    26) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

This one could be a bit of an upset, especially with Baker Mayfield playing well in the playoffs. However, he was far from elite in the regular season.

Michael Penix Jr. has an elite arm with great accuracy and some refinement to his game. The Buccaneers land a future face of the franchise by grabbing a first-round caliber quarterback in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft.

    27) Arizona Cardinals: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

The Cardinals did what they needed to on offense early in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft, but Jonathan Gannon is a defensive-minded head coach who could use some much-needed help on that side of the ball.

Kamari Lassiter is fast and nasty in run support, making him the type of corner needed in the Cardinals defense.

    28) Buffalo Bills: Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

With two defensive tackles potentially about to enter free agency, the Buffalo Bills could address the heart of their defensive front in April. Byron Murphy II doesn’t need to be an elite pass rusher for the Bills, but his ability to disrupt offensive lines with his jaw-dropping strength will help create pressure.

    29) Kansas City Chiefs: Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

No team has had more drops in the NFL than the Kansas City Chiefs despite having the GOAT, Patrick Mahomes, at quarterback. Brian Thomas Jr. was an excellent second option in the LSU offense, with his translatable skill set often overlooked by the presence of his more revered teammate in Baton Rouge.

    30) Detroit Lions: Kalen King, CB, Penn State

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has made major strides with the Detroit Lions defense, but pass coverage has never been a strength of theirs.

MORE: Top CBs in the 2024 NFL Draft

Kalen King was a playmaker for Penn State, a program known for producing great defenses. King would step in as one of the starters on Detroit despite needing a bit of time to develop to his full potential.

    31) San Francisco 49ers: Adonai Mitchell. WR, Texas

This is one of those picks where the San Francisco 49ers are strong at every position, so this 2024 NFL Mock Draft is about taking the best player available. Adonai Mitchell was a great deep threat for the Texas Longhorns, and his selection gives Brock Purdy another electric playmaker on offense.

    32) Baltimore Ravens: Leonard Taylor III, DT, Miami (FL)

Like the 49ers above them, the Baltimore Ravens are so good at every position, so why not make their defense that much better? Leonard Taylor III is strong off the defensive line and can cause havoc at the line of scrimmage, making him an impactful rotational player on the Ravens.
