Sunday Night Football tonight features an excellent AFC Divisional Round matchup between two quarterbacks and teams with a lot of history with one another. The latest chapter of a highly anticipated rivalry matchup with a spot in the AFC Championship Game on the line, what could be better?
Who Plays on Sunday Night Football Tonight?
- Teams: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills
- Location: Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, New York
The No. 2 seeded Buffalo Bills will welcome Patrick Mahomes and the No. 3 seeded Kansas City Chiefs to town in what should be an excellent matchup between two of the NFL‘s best quarterbacks. These two teams have met several times with high stakes on the line, and this is just another chapter in what promises to be a fun matchup between AFC powers.
Although the head-to-head matchup between Josh Allen and Mahomes is deadlocked at 3-3, Allen understands that the Chiefs have been somewhere they’ve yet to be themselves and is looking to change it Sunday night.
“They’ve been at the top of the mountain, they know what it takes to get there,” Allen said after Wednesday’s walkthrough practice. “We’ve yet to do that. As a competitor, as a player, to be in a situation like this is something that you dream about.
“To think about how far we’ve come even from seven, eight weeks ago to where we are now to have an opportunity to host a game against (a team that’s) won two championships in the last couple years, you know, you can’t help but be excited for that,” Allen continued.
The Bills will have a chance to continue their ascension since the latter half of the season. With a big home win against the Chiefs, Buffalo will be just one game away from a Super Bowl appearance for the first time in Allen’s career.
As for Kansas City, it’s been a trying season for Mahomes and Co. Despite their position in the Divisional Round, it hasn’t come without a fair share of growing pains this year. Nevertheless, Mahomes understands the opportunity in front of them, especially against a team of the Bills’ caliber.

“The Bills are a great challenge,” Mahomes said. “I think everybody understands that they’ve gotten my number a lot of times. We’ve been lucky enough to get them in the playoffs, but they beat us earlier this year.
“So we understand that we’re going to have to play our best football to win the game, especially at their place, but it’s not about ending someone’s season for us. It’s about just advancing, trying to find a way to survive and advance and get to the next round. And whatever that takes this weekend we’re going to try to do and try to go out there and win a football game.”
Like the great rivalries between quarterbacks before them, a matchup between two of the game’s best young QBs promises to bring all the drama and action fans could want.
