The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to Detroit this weekend for a Divisional Round matchup. How many times has QB Baker Mayfield been in the playoffs?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to Detroit this weekend for a Divisional Round showdown against the Detroit Lions.

It will be Baker Mayfield’s fourth playoff start since entering the league in 2018. Mayfield debuted in the playoffs in the 2020 season as the quarterback for the Browns. How has Mayfield fared in the postseason throughout his career?

    Baker Mayfield Playoff History

Heading into the Divisional Round against Detroit, Mayfield has a winning record in the playoffs, sitting at 2-1 in his career.

His first-ever win in the playoffs came in 2021 with the Browns when they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 48-37, at Heinz Field in the Wild Card Round. He threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win.

The game wasn’t as close as the final score may indicate, as Cleveland made an early statement by going up 28-0 in the first quarter.

Mayfield and the Browns went to halftime leading 35-10, and the Steelers’ comeback effort was quelled by a Nick Chubb touchdown catch on a pass from Mayfield in the fourth quarter.

The following week, the Browns fell just short in a matchup against the No.1-seeded Kansas City Chiefs. They lost that game by a 22-17 score despite Patrick Mahomes exiting the game and Chad Henne having to play in the second half.

Mayfield finished 23 of 37 for 204 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a shaky performance.

This season, Tampa Bay overachieved preseason expectations and won the NFC South a year after Tom Brady’s retirement. That earned Tampa Bay a home playoff game, where the Buccaneers advanced to the Divisional Round with a victory over the Eagles in a Wild Card contest.

It took three years before Mayfield got back to the postseason, but he and the Buccaneers took home a win last Monday against the Eagles, 32-9. Mayfield was prolific in the game, throwing for 337 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

Mayfield has posted solid numbers through three playoff games, throwing seven touchdowns to just one interception. The Buccaneers quarterback has a chance to continue to build off this playoff success as he takes on the Detroit Lions this Sunday.

“It’s been great,” Mayfield said of this season so far. “Like I mentioned as well, we’re happy, but we’re not satisfied. We have bigger goals, so we gotta keep working.”

When asked about the loud environment at Ford Field in Detroit, Mayfield said it shouldn’t be a problem.

“Playing in Kansas City during the playoffs was great as well, but just talking to some of those Rams guys, they said it was the loudest thing they’ve ever heard, so we gotta be completely ready for that. It just comes down to everybody knowing exactly what our game plan is … but it’s gonna be a great atmosphere.”
