How cold was it really at Arrowhead Stadium between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs?
The frigid elements even impacted a well-known feature involving Chiefs head coach Andy Reid: his mustache.

“Andy Reid mustache is frozen. It’s cold y’all,” Sharpe shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

PFN’s Kyle Yates offered a suggestion to warm up Reid’s mustache.
“Someone get Andy Reid a hair dryer for his mustache damn,” Yates posted.
One former Chiefs player also noticed how cold his head coach is.
“Coach’s mustache completely frozen over,” said Mitchell Schwartz on X, who won the 2019 season Super Bowl with Reid and the Chiefs.

However, radio personality for CBS Sports Andrew Perloff offered an even more unique idea involving Reid.
“If the NFL wants to go with a person for its logo like the NBA, I nominate icicle mustache Andy Reid,” Perloff posted.
Even NBC Sports sideline reporter Kaytee Hartung reported that Reid himself knew his mustache got frozen over.
Was Reid a Part of Coldest NFL Playoff Game Ever?
Reid, the Chiefs, and the visiting Dolphins were involved in a game with the following pre-kickoff conditions:
- Temperature: -4 degrees
- Wind Chill: -27 degrees
And the gusts reached all the way to 27 miles per hour.
With those elements, the Dolphins and Chiefs officially became the NFL’s fourth coldest game ever. This contest beat out the 2007 season NFC title game between the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers. That contest dipped to -23 degrees below the wind chill factor. The overall temperature was -1.
This game also becomes the coldest contest involving Reid. And that includes his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, as he never coached in a game that had anything near the Saturday elements. Reid even coached at venues like Green Bay, Chicago, New York, and Pittsburgh during his 14-year run as Eagles head coach.
With the Chiefs, he’s gone to notable cold-weather cities like Denver, Cincinnati, and Cleveland. But again, he’s experienced nothing like Dolphins-Chiefs on Saturday, Jan. 14.
This playoff game additionally becomes the coldest ever in Chiefs franchise history. Last season, Reid and the Chiefs played in frigid temperatures before their Divisional Round tilt with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
That playoff matchup was played in 25-degree weather with the chance of snow. Reid’s mustache, though, was icicle-free on that day.
