Has Dak Prescott Ever Won a Super Bowl? Cowboys QB’s Career Under a Microscope

How has Dak Prescott performed in the NFL playoffs during his Dallas Cowboys career? We revisit his playoff timeline and the major events.

Dak Prescott plays one of the premier positions in all of sports as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. He is one of the most scrutinized players by fans and the media, as opinions on him go back and forth based on his play that week.

The Cowboys and Prescott head into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the NFC with a chance to play at least two games at home if they defeat the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s Wild Card game.

Prescott has never won a Super Bowl during his eight-year NFL career.

How Far Has Dak Prescott Advanced in the Playoffs?

Prescott has never advanced past the Divisional Round in four playoff appearances. He’s reached the second playoff weekend three times in his career. The Cowboys haven’t played in an NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season.

As a rookie, Prescott and the Cowboys went 13-3 to win the NFC East and secure the top seed. Prescott threw three touchdowns in his first playoff game but lost to the Green Bay Packers on a last-second field goal.

The Cowboys won a home Wild Card game two years later but lost on the road to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round. A late rally fell short in the 30-22 loss to the Rams, who made the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys have lost close games to the San Francisco 49ers in the last two postseasons. In 2021, Dallas was trailing by six when Prescott’s 17-yard run in the final seconds led to the game ending as he couldn’t spike the ball in time to stop the clock. Last season, the Cowboys won a home Wild Card game but lost to the 49ers, 19-12, in the Divisional Round.

Prescott has a 63.4 completion percentage with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in six career playoff games. The Cowboys have lost four of the six playoff games in his career.

    This Season’s Outlook

This is one of Prescott’s best chances to win a Super Bowl because the Cowboys have a chance to play at least two games at home, where they were 8-0 in the regular season.

Prescott had one of his best regular seasons with a career-high 69.5 completion percentage and led the NFL with 36 touchdown passes. He also has nine interceptions in 17 games after throwing 15 in 12 games last season. At home this season, Prescott completed 73.3% of his passes and threw 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions.

If Dallas reaches the NFC Championship game, they will likely face the 49ers on the road. The Cowboys lost 42-10 in Week 5 in San Francisco when Prescott was held to 153 pass yards and threw a season-high three interceptions.

After last week’s game, Prescott spoke about how the team is approaching the postseason. “Coming off of the past years, understanding the team that we have, knowing that coming into this season that we had a team that could compete, and we wanted to put ourselves in this position, and to stay in the moment each and every moment and not look forward to this.”
