After losing in the playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers now turn to an offseason with plenty of questions. Who do they take in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft?

With the final order of picks of the 2024 NFL Draft becoming clearer and clearer throughout the playoffs, many NFL fan bases are turning their attention to the NFL Draft. Mock draft season is underway, with executives and fans hoping for their next up-and-coming superstar.

This mock draft will dive into the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will pick 23rd in the 2024 NFL Draft after losing to the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs. This mock draft was constructed using the PFN Mock Draft Simulator.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 NFL Draft Picks

The Steelers’ main focus will be to figure out their long-term quarterback, but they might pick too low in the draft for that to be an option. Armed with five picks in the first four rounds, the Steelers aim to keep sustaining winning seasons.

    • Round 1, Pick 23: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma
    • Round 2, Pick 54: Caelen Carson, CB, Wake Forest
    • Round 3, Pick 85: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
    • Round 4, Pick 118: Kitan Oladapo, S, Oregon State
    • Round 4, Pick 119: Curtis Jacobs, LB, Penn State
    • Round 6, Pick 181: Myles Jones, CB, Duke

Round 1, Pick 23: Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

If the Steelers want to truly turn a corner offensively, they have to bench Dan Moore and move last year’s first-round pick over to left tackle. They can then opt to turn their tackles into a position of strength by drafting Tyler Guyton to step in at right tackle.

An elite athlete, Guyton has impressive movement skills and a good technical foundation in pass protection. He still needs further refinement for his technique to match his athleticism, but he can start Day 1 in the NFL and give Pittsburgh a young, talented tackle duo to protect their quarterback — whoever that might be.

Round 2, Pick 54: Caelen Carson, CB, Wake Forest

We’ve all seen the Steelers’ cornerback room this season. Patrick Peterson has moved over to safety, and Levi Wallace and Chandon Sullivan are both slated to be free agents, leaving the Steelers with little at that position.

Caelen Carson is a physical and smooth cornerback who can work on an island in man coverage against any style of receiver. Pairing Carson with Joey Porter Jr. gives the Steelers a couple of talented young corners on the perimeter of their defense.

Round 3, Pick 85: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan

The Steelers’ offense is a mixed bag of “Who Knows?” right now, with most of the talent on that side of the ball. So many players have their futures up in the air, especially in their wide receiver room. Allen Robinson will likely be cut with an $11 million cap hit next year, and Diontae Johnson could join him since he has no more guaranteed money left on his deal.

Roman Wilson is an underrated receiver in this class despite playing for the national champion Wolverines. He isn’t the biggest receiver out there, but good luck covering him for long out of the slot. Wilson is a good route-runner and has the speed to do significant damage after the catch.

Round 4, Pick 118: Kitan Oladapo, S, Oregon State

Pittsburgh’s safety group this year hasn’t been up to par with the kind of quality we’ve come to expect from the Steelers’ safeties. Minkah Fitzpatrick has been his usual stellar self, but the rest of that room needs a young playmaker to pair with Fitzpatrick.

Oladapo is a tone-setting and high-energy safety in the run game but also has great ball skills in coverage and can match up with slot receivers and tight ends.

Round 4, Pick 119: Curtis Jacobs, LB, Penn State

The Steelers have been giving their linebacker room the Band-Aid treatment this season, and they have to add more talent to that room if they want their defense to turn around.

Jacobs is another stellar athlete from Penn State’s defense. The Butkus Award semifinalist formed part of one of CFB’s best linebacker duos this season and brings the juice in the run game and out in space.

Round 6, Pick 181: Myles Jones, CB, Duke

I’d expect the Steelers to double-dip here in the draft at either cornerback or wide receiver, and I went with cornerback here.

The 6’4″ Myles Jones has the athleticism to hold up on an island and has good instincts and ball skills in coverage. The Steelers continuing to build up the depth in their secondary is crucial for a defensive reset.

Round 7, Pick 215: Kingsley Eguakun, C, Florida

It seems pretty likely that Pittsburgh moves on from Mason Cole at center. Regardless of whether they retain him or not, the Steelers need to add more depth to the interior of their offensive line.

Kingsley Eguakun is a good mover in space and has only allowed one sack in his three years as the starter for Florida. He dealt with some injuries this season, causing him to slip here.
