The Dallas Cowboys had a padded practice on Thursday, but did Stephon Gilmore and Tyler Smith participate more ahead of Sunday's game?

FRISCO, TX — The Dallas Cowboys continue prepping for Super Wild Card Weekend against the Green Bay Packers. Here’s the latest on OL Tyler Smith and CB Stephon Gilmore ahead of Sunday’s game.

    Dallas Cowboys Practice Report

The Cowboys practiced inside the Ford Center once again for their game preparations.

This was a padded practice for the team, which is allowed because the limitations that apply to the regular season don’t apply in the postseason.

Team stretches, and some position drills were the focus during the open time allotted to the media. Defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was spotted working directly with the defensive ends during practice.

    Did not participate:

    Limited:

    • CB Stephon Gilmore (Shoulder)
    • DT Johnathan Hankins (Ankle)
    • OL Tyler Smith (Foot)

    Fully Participated:

    Stephon Gilmore

Gilmore was spotted working and was back in practice on Thursday, which upgraded him to limited participation. Head coach Mike McCarthy said he expected Gilmore to practice wearing a shoulder harness and get a feel for it ahead of Sunday.

Although you couldn’t see a shoulder harness during practice, it’s expected that he will wear one come game day.

The Dallas cornerback is dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered against the Washington Commanders when he popped his shoulder out of place. Gilmore still remains optimistic about his return on Sunday.

    Tyler Smith

As for Smith, McCarthy said he’s progressing, and they “feel good about where he is.”

According to the Dallas HC, Smith was scheduled to do more at practice today, which he did. He was listed as limited and was spotted working at practice once again on Thursday, which continues to make Smith’s return look promising and has him trending toward a return on Sunday.

Last week, Smith did not participate in practice at all, so this indicates a better chance of his availability this weekend.

The second-year player tore his plantar fascia late in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions. It was a complete tear, which helps the healing process more.
