Gabe Davis Injury Update: What We Know About the Bills WR

The Bills have already clinched a playoff berth, but they may have to complete their hunt for the AFC East title without WR Gabe Davis.

The Buffalo Bills have already clinched a playoff berth, but they can win the AFC East with a victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night. Josh Allen may have one fewer option in the passing game, as wideout Gabe Davis departed Sunday Night Football with an injury.

    Gabe Davis Injury Update

Davis hobbled to Buffalo’s sideline midway through the second quarter to be examined by the club’s medical staff.

He subsequently entered the blue medical for further evaluation but has since emerged. Davis missed the end of the Bills’ third offensive drive, which ended with a touchdown reception by WR Trent Sherfield.

Davis initially sat on Buffalo’s bench with the rest of his teammates, but he soon left for the team’s locker room.

The Bills initially announced that Davis was questionable to return with a knee injury. However, Buffalo officially ruled him out at the start of the second half.

Davis had not caught a pass before leaving Sunday night’s game. Josh Allen targeted him in the end zone at the end of Buffalo’s first offensive drive, but Davis and Allen appeared to have a miscommunication, and Dolphins cornerback Eli Apple intercepted the pass.

Davis, a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, entered Week 18 with 45 receptions for 746 and seven touchdowns. He’d played more offensive snaps (948) than any Bills wideout, including Stefon Diggs coming into SNF. Davis is scheduled to reach free agency in March.

Fellow wide receivers Khalil Shakir, Deonte Harty, and Sherfield will see additional opportunities with Davis sidelined.
