The Miami Dolphins play the New York Jets this weekend, but there are some injury issues for this team right now that have fantasy football managers trying to figure out what to do. WR Tyreek Hill has missed practice all week and is going to be a game-time decision. Additionally, RB De’Von Achane is also questionable with his toe injury.
What should fantasy managers do when it comes to the Dolphins’ backfield? Both Achane and Raheem Mostert can put up crazy numbers at the running back position when they’re healthy. Should you feel confident putting both of the Dolphins RBs in your fantasy lineup?
Editor’s Note: De’Von Achane is active for Week 15 after being listed as questionable with a toe injury.
What Is Raheem Mostert’s Fantasy Outlook for Week 15?
What Mostert is doing right now is truly impressive. He leads the league with 16 rushing touchdowns and is second in the NFL with 924 rushing yards. He has scored a touchdown in all but three games he has played in this year and has more games with two scores (5) than those three with no touchdowns.
In the first matchup this season against the New York Jets, Mostert rushed the ball 20 times for 94 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The fact he had success against the Jets isn’t a shock, as last year, he averaged 92 yards a game in the two matchups against their division rival while scoring one touchdown.
The Jets are known to have a good defense, but teams have been able to run the ball pretty consistently against them this year. They allow 131.8 yards per game on the ground, which ranks 28th in the NFL.
If Hill isn’t able to suit up, look for Mostert to get the ball more than normal, as Miami would project to turn to the run game more often than normal. Additionally, if Achane isn’t able to play either, you are looking at an easy path for Mostert to finish as the overall RB1 on the week.
What Is De’Von Achane’s Fantasy Outlook for Week 15?
This is tough, as the free PFN Start/Sit Optimizer has both of these guys within a point of each other. However, I am worried that Achane won’t be playing in this game.
At the time of writing, he is listed as questionable, and with the Dolphins’ extremely tough stretch of opponents coming after this game, could they hold him out one more game for the stretch run?

If they are going to play him, then he could definitely be in store for a big game as well with the matchup against the Jets. Achane is very good at catching the ball, and he could really benefit from Hill being out.

Can You Start Mostert and Achane This Week?
In the Pro Football Network Start/Sit Optimizer, our Consensus Rankings say that Mostert is the player to start. His projected 11.8 points include 56 rushing yards and three catches for 17 receiving yards. That projected stat line just barely outperforms the consensus projection of Achane (11.2 points).
If both of these players are healthy, then I think you could absolutely consider using both in your lineup. And if Hill isn’t able to go in the game, then you could see the Dolphins doing a lot of different things with their running backs. Both of these guys are capable of having big games, and they have shown they can do it in the same week.
