NFL World Reacts to Brandon Staley Being Fired After Thursday Night Football Blowout

    Published on

What was considered inevitable by the NFL world happened on Friday. Brandon Staley was let go after Thursday night’s awful showing.

There is no other way to put it — Week 15 was a disaster for the Los Angeles Chargers. A 63-21 blowout loss to a division rival is never acceptable, but what makes matters worse is that despite the score, the game wasn’t even as close as the final score would suggest.

While it felt like a long time coming, the final shoe for Chargers head coach Brandon Staley finally dropped on Friday as the team announced they relieved him and general manager Tom Telesco of their duties. The move is not a surprising one, but big nonetheless.

Naturally, with something as impactful as a head coach and general manager getting let go in a fell swoop, you knew the NFL world was going to react to it all.

    Brandon Staley Fired

In what was one of the most embarrassing performances of the NFL season, the Chargers finally decided that enough was enough and chose to part ways with their head coach and general manager following the Week 16 debacle.

63 points against a divisional rival is never acceptable, never mind doing it in the fashion in which the team did it. It was clear to anyone who watched last night’s game, it was time for a change.

One X (formerly known as Twitter) user was overjoyed with the decision to move on from the head coach. “The Brandon Staley era is finally over in LA!!!!!”

While it is anything but a joyous day for Staley, many within the fanbase share the same sentiment that the above social media user does, and all are ready for a new chapter in the franchise’s history to begin.

One Chargers fan on social media took a level-headed approach to the news. He was happy with the move, but this user chose to remind fans that the hope is that this move will help them be better in the future.

“I’m not even exaggerating — this is the happiest I have been all season. What is ultimately best for the future was for Tom Telesco and Brandon Staley to both be fired. Dean Spanos finally pulled the plug.”

This move was not at all surprising for most. But still, anytime a coach and a general manager are let go in-season, it is going to generate a lot of conversation.

It has been a trying season for the Chargers, even a trying decade some would say. However, the Staley era is finished in Los Angeles, and the hope is that better days are on the way for the Chargers’ faithful.
