Where Did De’Von Achane Go to College? Stats and Draft History for Dolphins RB

The Dolphins are the NFL's version of Need For Speed. That didn't change when they drafted De'Von Achane. Where did he play college football?

The Miami Dolphins are the NFL’s version of the Need For Speed franchise. With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Raheem Mostert, no one is catching them. The crazy thing is, those aren’t the only fast players on the team. They also have running back, De’Von Achane, who is just as fast. Where did he go to college?

What College Did De’Von Achane Go To?

Achane was born on Oct. 13, 2001, in Missouri City, Texas. He attended Thurgood Marshall High School, where he rushed for 4,795 yards and 87 touchdowns.

According to 247Sports, Achane was a four-star prospect coming out of high school.

Achane committed to Texas A&M University on Dec. 18, 2019. He spent three seasons in College Station, backing up Isaiah Spiller for his first two seasons. He started his first game in 2022, starting all 10 that season.

During his career at A&M, Achane accumulated 369 attempts for 2,376 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also caught 65 passes for 554 yards and five touchdowns. In addition to his offensive efforts, he returned 20 kicks for 613 yards and two touchdowns.

Following his college career, Achane attended the NFL Scouting Combine in preparation for the NFL Draft. At the NFL Combine, he ran a 4.32 40-yard dash, which was the fastest of all running backs and third among all players. “I’m trying to run the 40 in 4.2-something at the NFL Combine,” Achane said in an interview after entering the NFL Draft.

He was then taken in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Dolphins. Achane was the 11th Aggie to be drafted by Miami and the first since quarterback Ryan Tannehill in 2012.

After being drafted by the Dolphins, then-Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was asked about Achane. “He’s willing to do whatever he has to do to be successful in all phases, whether he’s a student, whether he’s a person, or whether he’s a player,” Fisher said.

“He’s got phenomenal hands. Yeah, he’s got underneath route-running and can run the route tree. But here’s the thing you got to watch as you watch him play: For a track guy that’s that fast, he never plays out of control,” Fisher said.

Since being drafted, Achane has played in six games. In those six games, he has 56 rushing attempts for 534 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has 13 receptions for 101 yards and two more touchdowns. He has missed six games so far this season due to multiple injuries, first a knee injury and then a foot injury.

Achane’s first breakout appearance was in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos. In that game, he rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts. He also caught four passes for 30 yards and two more touchdowns.
