Since 2022, Arizona OT Jordan Morgan has been on the NFL Draft radar, and now, as the 2023 cycle carries forward, his scouting report has him in early-round range. After returning to full strength from a torn ACL, what does Morgan have to offer as a prospect, and can he crack Round 1?

From the moment he stepped foot on campus, Morgan separated himself as an offensive lineman who might be different. But that alone wasn’t the bar for Morgan, as his five-year career would soon reveal.
Morgan did start two games at left tackle as a true freshman, and he did earn first-team All-PAC-12 honors in 2022. But the toughest test of Morgan’s career was returning from an ACL tear suffered in November of his 2022 campaign.
Morgan set out to return better than he’d been when he left the field, and that’s exactly what happened in 2023. Morgan started every single game for the Wildcats and again brought in first-team All-PAC-12 honors before earning a Senior Bowl invitation.

Many evaluators wondered if Morgan would be able to return to 100 percent in 2023. Now, with 2023 in the rearview mirror, we can confidently say he did just that. Not only that, but he played at the 2023 Senior Bowl and competed with some of the best prospects on the circuit.
At the NFL Combine, Morgan weighed in at 311 pounds, nine pounds lighter than his listed college weight. In the process, he put up elite testing numbers — among them a 5.04 40-yard dash with a 98th percentile 1.69 10-yard split, a 28″ vertical, and a 9’2″ broad jump.

Morgan is a superlative athlete who also has plenty of the charms of an experienced lineman. There’s little doubt that he can be a quality NFL starter. But the bigger question is: At what position? And what is ultimately his ceiling?
Morgan’s Scouting Report
Strengths
- Explosive, high-energy athlete at the snap who moves and recalibrates with little strain.
- Flashes rare change of direction and corrective foot speed when recovering leverage.
- High-mass, well-proportioned OL with excellent frame density and weight distribution.
- Has the swift lateral burst to effortlessly match stunting rushers while staying in phase.
- Has exceptional knee bend for his size and moves with a very stable center of gravity.
- Very naturally acquires leverage and proper pad level and is rotationally flexible.
- Knee bend, natural leverage acquisition, and flexibility yield dominating torque capacity.
- Can pummel edge setters with ruthless torque on extensions, then quickly fix alignment.
- Strong lower body allows him to sustain overwhelming leg churn as a moving blocker.
- Unnaturally balanced while modulating his footwork and adjusting his positioning.
- Able to drop his base, re-anchor, and snuff out power rushes with his core strength.
- Patient pass blocker who can suddenly latch and torque rushers outside the pocket.
- Alert blocker who can shift focus quickly, chipping interior DL before diverting outside.

Weaknesses
- Has below-average arm length, which can shrink his margin for error and detract power.
- Sometimes drifts upright midway through zone run blocks, stalling his base load.
- Doesn’t always bring his base into front-side zone blocks, which can impact balance.
- Can be uncontrolled at times when maintaining angles and flipping his hips on gap runs.
- Sometimes has wasted motion with his feet off the snap and is prone to false steps.
- At times, aligns his base too far outside while latching, allowing counter lanes.
- Has a habit of drifting too far back with his feet against power, giving up ample space.
- At times, keeps his hands too high and too wide in stance, exposing himself to power.
- Can more consistently keep his hands loaded to maximize force output on punches.
- Still has room to improve his hand placement and precision against counters.
- Is over-reliant on extensions and two-hand punches, not independent hand usage.
- Missed time in 2020 with an injury and tore his ACL late in 2022.
Current Draft Projection and Summary
Morgan grades out as a top-50 prospect who could garner consideration anywhere from late Round 1 to early-to-mid Day 2. He’s one of many high-upside prospects in the 2024 OT class, but his projected positional versatility adds extra appeal. In the end, he may project better as a guard.
Morgan — who amassed 37 starts across his five-year Arizona career — has a great mix of pre-existing experience and talent, and his high-floor, high-ceiling profile will surely draw interest from dozens of NFL evaluators.
At 6’5″ and a playing weight of around 320 pounds, Morgan has great size, power, and strength. But at the same time, he’s an elite athlete with impeccable leveraging skills, balance, and bend — and he didn’t lose any mobility in 2023 after returning from an ACL tear.
There are still areas where Morgan can improve. He’s still fleshing out his run-blocking arsenal past pure zone concepts. Meanwhile, as a pass protector, he’s still learning how to win and recover with independent hand usage, and his non-elite length limits his margin for error.
Morgan has the physical skills and the necessary fail-safes — such as balance, strength, leverage, and awareness — to be a competent starter early in his career, and he can keep building on that foundation toward an impact starter ceiling.
However, because Morgan’s middling length is paired with inconsistent hand precision, a move inside to guard could mitigate that weakness and also allow Morgan to more routinely channel his burst, range, natural leverage, point-of-contact power, rotational freedom, and finishing physicality.

Ultimately, there’s enough in his toolbox to allow Morgan a chance at tackle first before moving him to guard. And at either spot, Morgan has impact starter upside with his athleticism, natural talent, and corrective feel.
