The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys have one of the greatest rivalries in the NFL. Not only are they division rivals, but they’re two Super Bowl contenders with MVP candidates at quarterback in Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott.
But between Hurts and Prescott, who is the more deserving candidate? Lets take a look at the NFL MVP odds and break it down.
Current NFL MVP Odds: Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts Are 2 Legitimate Candidates
Currently, at ESPN BET, Prescott is tied as the co-favorite for NFL MVP with Brock Purdy at +300, while Hurts is not far behind at +350, the third-shortest odds.
After Hurts, you have three quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes, Tua Tagovailoa, and Lamar Jackson, followed by Tyreek Hill at +1200. Below is the top 10 in NFL MVP odds at ESPN BET.

Is Dak Prescott or Jalen Hurts the Better NFL MVP Bet?
Given that they’re two of the top three favorites to win NFL MVP, there isn’t much value in betting on either player to win MVP at the moment. However, currently, Prescott has better numbers.
For the season, Prescott is second in QBR at 75.4 and leads all quarterbacks in passing touchdowns. Since Dallas’ 42-10 Week 5 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Prescott has been on an absolute tear, as he has led the Cowboys to a 6-1 record, with their lone loss coming against the Eagles in Philly. During this seven-game stretch, Prescott has thrown 21 TDs and just two interceptions.
The knock against Prescott is that this production has come primarily against bad teams. The Cowboys’ last four opponents have come against the Giants, Panthers, Commanders, and Seahawks. Meanwhile, during this same period, Hurts and the Eagles have gone through a gauntlet, with games against the Chiefs, Bills, and 49ers.
While I agree with the oddsmakers that Prescott is the more deserving candidate at the moment, Hurts can easily surpass him in the remaining five weeks of the season. While his numbers might not be as impressive as Prescott’s, Hurts is still having a very good season in his own right, with 31 combined touchdowns, which is only second to Josh Allen.

But most importantly for Hurts, at 10-2, the Eagles are still the most likely team to secure the top seed in the NFC. While a loss tonight would put them behind the 49ers, they have a very easy schedule remaining, with games against the Seahawks, Giants (twice), and the Cardinals.
If the Eagles get a first-round bye, that would greatly increase Hurts’ chances, as the last six NFL MVP winners have all been quarterbacks on a No. 1-seeded team.
