Could Tua Tagovailoa secretly be going after a Grammy along with NFL Most Valuable Player?
Already known for shredding defenses with his left hand, the Miami Dolphins quarterback showed a different skill with his hands on the Monday Night ManningCast with Peyton and Eli Manning — playing the guitar.
Tagovailoa went acoustic and started remaking the famed 1992 Eric Clapton hit “Tears in Heaven.” His guitar strings prompted the Super Bowl-winning quarterback brothers to try to sing a football version of the song.
Fans immediately rushed to social media to react to Tagovailoa’s hidden talent that got revealed during the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game.
Notable Reactions to Tua Tagovailoa’s Version of “Tears in Heaven”
Fans immediately took a liking to Tagovailoa’s guitar skills.
“Watching Peyton and Eli with Tua playing Tears In Heaven on guitar over listening to Troy Aikman & Joe Buck all day!” one fan said on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Tua ripping Tears in Heaven was the highlight of this game thus far,” one more fan account posted.

Another Dolphins fan then added this suggestion for after their Week 18 game: “When the Dolphins end the Bills season, I hope Hard Rock Stadium blasts Tears in Heaven.”
Even PFN Dolphins beat reporter Adam Beasley couldn’t help but shed a tear for the rare MNF musical moment, saying on X, “This is actually a really charming moment. Peyton massacring Eric Clapton brings a tear to my eye.”
Is Tagovailoa Still Rocking His Way to MVP Award?
Tagovailoa showed a softer side of him on the ManningCast. But his play inside Hard Rock Stadium and other NFL venues has cranked up another volume.
The Dolphins quarterback is already past the 3,000-yard mark this season with 3,457 yards. He just needs 92 yards next Monday against the Tennessee Titans to shatter his personal best of 3,548 yards.

There’s one more mark Tagovailoa is set to shatter on his personal end. With just one more touchdown throw, he’ll tie his 2022 mark of 25 touchdowns in a season.
That latter mark, though, was accomplished in just 13 games played. He’s stayed healthy throughout the entire season and is now on pace for new career-high marks — amplifying his case for league Most Valuable Player honors. Here’s what else Tagovailoa has accomplished this season.
- He currently has completed 70.1% of his throws, a new best for him.
- Tagovailoa has guided the Dolphins to nine wins, the most regular-season wins in his NFL career.
- He’s produced four games of delivering three or four touchdown passes. And he’s second in the league in TD passes behind Dak Prescott.
- He sits at third in the league in passing yards behind Sam Howell and C.J. Stroud.
- Lastly, Tagovailoa has Miami in a position where it can break out of the consecutive nine-win seasons the team has had, and reach 10 wins for the first time since 2020.
Tagovailoa recently went 18-of-24 for 280 yards, completed 75% of his throws, and tossed two touchdowns in the 45-15 rout of the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
The NFL world has gotten used to Tagovailoa using his left to spearhead an electric offense. But he surprised fans by using his right hand to strike up a rare tune, showing off his rare versatility outside of the football field. Although, it’s not his first time going the musical route, as shown earlier this season on Thursday Night Football.
