Welcome to Week 14 of the Pro Football Network company-wide NFL Power Rankings. While Dalton Miller ably provides his own power rankings following the conclusion of each Sunday’s action, we’ll be polling each of PFN’s NFL contributors to assemble our list.
Each week, we’ll combine rankings from yours truly, Chief Content Officer David Bearman, NFL Director Adam Beasley, Betting Director Brian Blewis, Audience Engagement Director Mike Gambardella, COO Matt Infante, NFL Analyst Dalton Miller, Bengals Reporter Jay Morrison, Cowboys Reporter Jess Nevarez, and Fantasy Director Kyle Yates.
Which teams are too high or too low as we enter Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season?
Pro Football Network’s Week 14 NFL Power Rankings
Week 13 rank listed in parentheses.
32) Carolina Panthers (32)
31) New England Patriots (31)
30) New York Giants (29)
29) Arizona Cardinals (30)
28) Washington Commanders (28)
27) New York Jets (26)
26) Tennessee Titans (25)
25) Chicago Bears (27)
24) Las Vegas Raiders (24)
None of the teams in this lowly tier appear headed for the 2023 playoffs. The Panthers and Raiders have already fired their head coaches, while the Patriots and Commanders seem poised to fire Bill Belichick and Ron Rivera, respectively, at the end of the season.
On the positive side, the Cardinals posted a surprising 14-point win over the Steelers on Sunday, while Kyle Murray continued to perform well in his fourth game back from injured reserve. If Murray keeps producing, Arizona could play its way out of elite QB range in the 2024 draft, further cementing Murray as the club’s long-term signal-caller.
23) New Orleans Saints (21)
22) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (23)
21) Atlanta Falcons (19)
20) Los Angeles Chargers (22)
19) Cincinnati Bengals (20)
18) Minnesota Vikings (16)
17) Denver Broncos (13)
All three NFC South contenders fall in this tier. The Saints’ offense might look better with Jameis Winston under center instead of Derek Carr, but New Orleans no longer controls its own destiny. And neither the Bucs nor the Falcons looked overly impressive in their Week 13 wins. It’s hard to imagine the team that wins this division will have any shot in a Wild Card playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys or Philadelphia Eagles.
Meanwhile, it’s all good vibes in Cincinnati, where QB2 Jake Browning dismantled the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense en route to a Monday night victory. The Bengals still have a lot of ground to make up in the AFC Wild Card race, but Week 13 — which also featured the club’s best rushing performance of the year — was a solid first step.
16) Pittsburgh Steelers (T-11)
15) Los Angeles Rams (17)
14) Green Bay Packers (18)
13) Indianapolis Colts (15)
12) Seattle Seahawks (14)
11) Cleveland Browns (T-11)
The Rams and Packers both made leaps up our power rankings after winning in Week 13, while the Seahawks also moved up despite losing to the Dallas Cowboys. Because the NFC East second-place team is virtually assured of claiming the NFC’s No. 5 seed, there’s only room for two of Los Angeles, Green Bay, Seattle, and Minnesota in the playoffs.
With upcoming matchups against the 49ers and the Cowboys, the Seahawks have the most difficult schedule among that group. The Packers, who get to face the Giants, Panthers, and Bears to close the season, have the easiest slate.
In the AFC, the Colts were the obvious beneficiary of the Steelers’ and Browns’ losses on Sunday. Pittsburgh took a significant step back against the Cardinals and will be without Kenny Pickett for several weeks. But Joe Flacco gave Cleveland its best non-Deshaun Watson QB performance of the season, and the Browns’ elite defense will keep them in games.
10) Buffalo Bills (10)
9) Houston Texans (9)
8) Jacksonville Jaguars (7)
7) Detroit Lions (8)
6) Kansas City Chiefs (4)
T-4) Miami Dolphins (6)
T-4) Dallas Cowboys (5)
The Bills are the only team in this tier without a realistic chance of winning their division, but no rival club wants to face Josh Allen in the postseason. Buffalo still has just a 21% chance of making the playoffs, per ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), thanks in part to their struggling defense and in part to their gauntlet of a schedule, which includes remaining games against the Chiefs, Cowboys, and Dolphins.
Kansas City posted a last-second loss to the Packers on Sunday Night Football and has now scored 21 or fewer points in four of its last five games. The Chiefs will win the AFC West and still have a shot at a first-round bye. But their inability to consistently score is troubling, and there’s no WR help on the way for Patrick Mahomes.
3) Baltimore Ravens (3)
2) Philadelphia Eagles (1)
1) San Francisco 49ers (2)
Voting between the Ravens and Eagles was extremely close. Philadelphia’s average rank was 3.0; Baltimore’s was 3.6. Both teams received three second-place votes, but two votes had the Ravens at No. 6, while the Eagles bottomed out at No. 5.
But there’s no doubt about who should be at No. 1. The 49ers were our unanimous top team after Week 13, and how couldn’t they be? San Francisco dominated Philadelphia in every way, averaging eight yards per play in a 42-19 win.
While the 49ers are still a game behind the Eagles in the race for the NFC’s first-round playoff bye, Kyle Shananan’s club will take over the No. 1 seed this weekend if they defeat the Seahawks and Philadelphia loses to the Cowboys.
