Fantasy football managers have been hoping for more production from Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy throughout the majority of the 2023 NFL season. Unfortunately, he’s currently dealing with an injury that clouds his fantasy outlook heading into Denver’s matchup against the Houston Texans.
Let’s take a closer look at the most recent news we have on Jeudy and the potential fantasy impact this injury could have on the Broncos’ offense.
Latest Injury Update on Jerry Jeudy
Jeudy may have been listed as a non-participant for Wednesday’s practice due to a groin injury, but Broncos head coach Sean Payton didn’t seem all too concerned about the injury during his press conference yesterday.
“I think he will be fine,” said Payton, “We’ll see him tomorrow. That would be it.”
In what capacity Jeudy participates in Thursday’s practice remains to be seen, but Payton’s words certainly suggest the injury isn’t too concerning at this moment.
Will Jeudy Play This Week?
Jeudy was on the field for 61% of the offensive snaps against the Cleveland Browns, which was his second-lowest mark of the 2023 season. Could this groin injury have played a role in his low involvement in the offense in Week 12?
Fantasy managers don’t need to hit the panic button quite yet with regard to Jeudy’s status for Sunday. However, if he logs a second straight DNP on Thursday after Payton mentioned he should return to the practice field during his press conference, then I would officially be concerned.
Fantasy managers should monitor Jeudy’s practice participation for Thursday and Friday to see if we can get an idea of how problematic this groin injury really is.
What Does This Mean for Courtland Sutton’s Fantasy Ranking?
Many fantasy managers had high expectations for Jeudy’s first season with Payton as the new leading man. Unfortunately, Jeudy picked up a hamstring injury during the preseason, which got his 2023 campaign off to a slow start, and he’s never truly recovered from it.
Juedy has just 37 receptions for 440 yards and one score through 10 games played this season. He’s currently the WR55 in PPR formats, which is a far cry from where managers selected Jeudy in the middle rounds of their fantasy drafts.
He doesn’t have a single 15-point performance in PPR formats this season and has failed nine points in PPR formats on five occasions. Jeudy’s low fantasy ceiling and unreliable fantasy floor have made him a very disappointing fantasy asset in 2023.
The one player from this Broncos offense who hasn’t been a fantasy disappointment this year has been WR Courtland Sutton, who is currently the WR25 with 48 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns.
Neither player has seen an overwhelming high target share this season, but Sutton does at least have two games with more than 10 targets this season in comparison to Jeudy’s zero.

Sutton has been hovering around the low-end WR2 range throughout the season but would receive a slight bump into the top 20 in my fantasy rankings if Jeudy were unavailable for Week 13.
Another name worth keeping an eye on would be rookie WR Marvin Mims Jr., who could see an expanded role if Jeudy misses his second game of the season.
