The Green Bay Packers host the Kansas City Chiefs on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, looking to extend their winning streak to three games. After playing the Chiefs, the Packers will finish the season by playing four of the last five games against teams with losing records. Green Bay started the week a half-game out of the last NFC playoff spot.
The Chiefs have lost two of the last four games after starting the season 6-1. Kansas City can tie the Baltimore Ravens for the best record in the AFC with a win. There could be a four-way tie for the top spot in the AFC if the Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, and Jacksonville Jaguars win this week.
Kansas City is currently in good shape, with the tiebreaker being that they have the best conference record among the four teams, plus wins over Miami and Jacksonville.
The game will be on NBC, and kickoff for Sunday Night Football is at 8:20 p.m. ET.
When Does NBC’s Coverage Start?
Maria Taylor will be the host of Football Night in America, which kicks off NBC’s pregame coverage at 7 p.m. ET. Former head coaches Tony Dungy and Jason Garrett and former players Devin McCourty, Chris Simms, and Rodney Harrison will provide analysis.

Who Are the Game Announcers for Chiefs-Packers?
Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth are in the booth, with Melissa Stark as the sideline reporter and Terry McAulay as the rules analyst. Collinsworth was off last Sunday night after calling the Thanksgiving night game. Garrett, who is back on Football Night in America, replaced Collinsworth in the SNF booth.
Tirico is in his second season as the play-by-play announcer for Sunday Night Football. He joined NBC in 2012 and has hosted several events, including the Olympics, the Indianapolis 500, and golf’s U.S. Open and Open Championship. Tirico spent 25 years at ESPN and was the Monday Night Football play-by-play announcer for 10 seasons.
Collinsworth is in his 15th season providing game analysis for Sunday Night Football. He has won 17 Emmy awards, including stops at HBO, FOX, and the NFL Network.
Stark is in her second season as a sideline reporter for NBC. Along with NBC, she worked for ESPN and the NFL Network during her career.
McAulay joined NBC as a rules analyst in 2018 after 20 years as an on-field NFL official. He was a referee for 17 seasons and was assigned to the Super Bowl three times.
Super Bowl I Rematch
Super Bowl I between the AFL champion Chiefs and NFL champion Packers was played at the Los Angeles Coliseum and broadcast on NBC and CBS. The game was on two networks because NBC had the rights to AFL games, and CBS had a deal for NFL games. It is the only Super Bowl broadcast on two networks.
NBC had Curt Gowdy, Paul Christman, and Charlie Jones call the game, while the CBS broadcast featured Ray Scott, Jack Whitaker, Frank Gifford, and Pat Summerall. Scott did play-by-play for the first half, and Whitaker rotated in to handle the duties in the second half.
The game was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game when it was played and was later renamed Super Bowl I. The Packers won the game 35-10, and quarterback Bart Starr was named MVP.
