DeAndre Hopkins kicks off NFL free agency
Where were you when the Houston Texans traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for David Johnson and a second-round pick? If you’re a fan of the Texans, you’ll remember it as the moment your team declared it was no prepared to compete. The moment NFL free agency really took hold. The team gave up one of the best wide receivers in the NFL for chump change and will make Kyler Murray very happy. As for DeShaun Watson, it’s a sad day as the star quarterback that Dabo Sweeny compared to Michael Jordan will have to continue to be Jordan every snap for his team. Hopefully, the Texans have something up their sleeve to protect Watson and get him more weapons.
Huge contracts everywhere!
It wouldn’t be an NFL free agency period without a few head-scratching moves and things that shock the NFL world. The first move came when it was announced that Austin Hooper was signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns that would rest the tight-end market and add another option for the Browns in the passing game. Then the Browns went on to sign Jack Conklin.
The Miami Dolphins also splashed in the free-agent market and signed star defensive back Byron Jones to a deal that sees Jones make $40 Million in the first two years of his contract. Then Stephon Diggs was traded to the Buffalo Bills in a crazy trade.
