‘Fire Brandon Staley’ — NFL Fans Chanting for Chargers To Make a Coaching Change

    Published on

Brandon Staley continues to sink deeper following the Chargers' 20-10 loss to the Ravens. Have season ticket holders given up on the Staley Era?

While not considered the most boisterous of NFL fan bases compared to the “Chiefs Kingdom” or the Terrible Towel wavers in Pittsburgh, know that Los Angeles Chargers fans can get vocal if they see something they don’t like.

The Brandon Staley Era has riled them up. And their voices hit a new crescendo on Sunday Night Football versus the Baltimore Ravens.

“Fire Brandon Staley” Chants Erupt for Los Angeles Chargers

Fans took to social media to once again voice their strong displeasure for the Chargers’ head coach Staley, with Los Angeles dropping to 4-7 after falling 20-10 in mediocre fashion to the Ravens.

Now, season ticket holders of the Chargers have seen enough of the Staley Era.

Other fans believe that quarterback Justin Herbert deserves much more than what Staley has provided him with — posting their pleas to fire Staley on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Even L.A.-based analysts have called it how they see it regarding the Staley regime.

One more fan has already written off the 2023 Bolts.

“Truly truly truly no reason or excuse that Brandon Staley has a job tomorrow. No chance at playoffs, no sign of improvement, no sign of any accountability. You can’t fire players midseason. Make the changes that can be made. 2024-2025 Super Bowl run starts now,” the fan posted.

Staley Reacts to Latest Gut-Wrenching Loss

Staley is now 23-22 as a head coach in the NFL. But he’s staring at his first sub-.500 season, as his Chargers are now two losses away from being guaranteed a losing year.

And this loss got sealed on a jet sweep run to wide receiver Zay Flowers … who only needed three yards for the first down but pierced the dagger instead.

Flowers’ scamper was the longest play from scrimmage on the night. Baltimore only mustered a 21-yard reception by Nelson Agholor as its longest completion while the Chargers also didn’t allow any running back option to surpass 65 total yards. But, as far as their run defense goes, the Chargers still allowed 197 ground-based yards and surrendered an average of 5.6 yards per carry.

Staley and the Bolts have now lost three in a row. The 40-year-old head coach himself mentioned the losses are taking a toll on him.

“Every time it stings more,” Staley told reporters after the loss. “We gotta hang tough and keep working on our game in all three phases.”

Worse for Staley, his team could easily be at least 9-2 at the moment. Five of their losses have been decided by three points or less. Who’s to blame for those close defeats? His coaching? His defense? The play calls offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is calling?

“It starts with me, I’m fully responsible,” Staley said. “But we need to hang in there.”

Staley, though, doesn’t believe that his players are turning on him. He mentioned how his messaging has his team “avoiding blowouts” inside the stadium.

Overall, “there was some good things, but it just wasn’t consistent enough” as Staley put it.

However, the losses are stacking, and a season-ticket holder has seen enough of the Staley Era and left an ultimatum — and for the third straight week, Bolts fans are shouting three words: “Fire Brandon Staley.”
