Cooper Kupp Injury Update: Monitoring Rams WR1’s Ankle Injury

    Published on

Cooper Kupp entered Week 12 with an ankle injury and is already banged up again. What happened to the Rams WR on Sunday?

Cooper Kupp came into Sunday’s game nursing an ankle injury, and he appeared to aggravate the issue early in the Los Angeles Rams‘ Week 12 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. What happened to Kupp, and what is his current injury status?

    Cooper Kupp Injury Update

Kupp came up hobbling after catching a seven-yard pass early in the first quarter. He stayed in for the Rams’ next play — a touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Higbee — but went to the training table on Los Angeles’ sideline to get his ankle examined after the score.

Kupp had his ankle taped on the sideline, and the Rams never announced an update on his status, suggesting he wasn’t dealing with a serious injury.

Fortunately, Kupp was on the field when the Rams returned for their next offensive drive. But it will be worth monitoring his condition throughout Sunday’s game.

Kupp injured his ankle against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11 and did not practice on Wednesday. He was upgraded to limited sessions on Thursday and Friday and did not carry an injury designation for today’s game.

Kupp spent the first four games of the season on injured reserve after injuring his hamstring over the summer. He’s reclaimed his role as the club’s top wideout since returning in Week 5, although he’s slowed down in recent games.

While Kupp topped 100 receiving yards in Weeks 5 and 6, he managed 109 yards over the Rams’ last four games. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was sidelined for one full contest and half of another during that stretch, which negatively affected LA’s entire offense.

    Fantasy Fallout From Kupp’s Injury

Fantasy managers are becoming familiar with seeing news come across their devices that Kupp is banged up and dealing with another injury. Unfortunately, we know essentially what to expect from the Rams offense if Kupp misses time — because we’ve seen it numerous times already in 2023.

If Kupp is sidelined again, we’ll see Nacua move back up the fantasy rankings, while Atwell will also move up to low-end WR3/high-end Flex territory. Additionally, with Kyren Williams back in the lineup, we could see even more targets flow to the RB position, especially given Williams’ skill set.

But let’s hope this is just maintenance for Kupp and that he’ll be around down the stretch of the fantasy season.
