Why Are the Eagles’ Uniforms Different? Kelly Green Jerseys Make Second Appearance

The Eagles have already traced back to their 1990s roots with "Kelly Green" jerseys this season. Will Philadelphia pivot back to the look on Sunday?

The Philadelphia Eagles have already turned back time by tracing back to their 1990s roots earlier this season. They lured back the famed “Kelly Green” uniform.

Will that gameday attire make one more appearance? But this time, the road version worn famously by Randall Cunningham, Eric Allen, and the late franchise greats Jerome Brown and Reggie White?

When Philadelphia Eagles Will Return to “Kelly Green” Look

Eagle fans with ’90s nostalgia will get to see the trademark look again. The team is busting out Kelly Green at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday with the Buffalo Bills in town.

The Eagles made the revelation on Black Friday evening that they’re officially pivoting back to the throwback uniforms.

For fans who missed out on the previous look, the Eagles are rolling out a brighter, color-rush green home uniform. As for the helmet, that gets a touch-up on the green while the eagle feather goes with a silver shade.

The look had been popularized by past Eagle greats. Now, current Philly stars Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown, Haason Reddick, Darius Slay, and others will rock the uniform ahead of the huge Bills showdown.

Eagles Wore the Uniform for Another AFC East Foe

Philadelphia will aim to move to 2-0 with the Kelly Green.

They previously busted out the gameday look on Oct. 22 with the Miami Dolphins in town. That contest was a battle of 5-1 teams, and at the time the teams that shared the league’s best record.

The Eagles, however, ignited in the second quarter, breaking a 3-3 tie. Philly went on to outscore the Dolphins 14-7 in that quarter before allowing just one touchdown the rest of the way, cruising to the 31-17 romp at home.

Brown caught 10 passes for 137 yards and scored a touchdown in the uniform. Hurts finished 23-of-31 passing for 279 yards and tossed two touchdowns. The Eagles’ defense, meanwhile, snatched Tua Tagovailoa 3.5 times. Philly also held Tyreek Hill to below 100 yards receiving, settling for 88 yards.

Can the Eagles Clinch the Division With Sunday Win?

The Eagles are still a ways to go from winning the NFC East. The rival Dallas Cowboys strengthened their playoff chances on Thursday by smashing the Washington Commanders 45-10.

With the Thanksgiving win, Dallas moved to 8-3 overall and in control of second place.

Philadelphia, however, is 9-1 and on pace to become the first NFL team this season to hit double-digit victories.

If the Eagles earn the win over the Bills, that can seal themselves an early playoff spot. The other two teams in the division — the Commanders and New York Giants — sit at eight losses and are out of the running for a 10-win season. The Eagles can capitalize by winning their 10th game on Sunday. They currently hold a 99% chance of making the playoffs.

Philly will aim to go 2-0 in Kelly Green against a Bills team fighting to keep its own postseason hopes alive.
