Which Teams Are Involved in Higher and Lower Scoring Games Than Expected?
It’s probably a surprise to many that the Bears are the team who have most commonly been in higher-scoring games than expected this year. They are one of just six teams who have seen the over hit more than the under. In contrast, it has been the Raiders who have seen the most games go under this year.
The intriguing thing with the Bears is that despite being the league leaders in hitting the over, the recent trend has been towards lower-scoring games. The under has hit in four of Chicago’s last six contests, but only one of those saw Justin Fields as the starting quarterback.
With Fields as the starter, the over is 6-1 this season in Bears games. The one game that went under was when he left early with an injury. It is certainly an intriguing trend that games with Fields tend to see the over hit. However, this week they face the Vikings, who have had the over hit in fewer than 30% of their games this season.
As for the Raiders, they have become masters at seeing the under hit in their games. Their combination of mediocre offensive play with reasonably strong defensive performances has led to the last four Vegas games going under. In fact, just once since Week 2 has a game gone over for the Raiders this season.

Interestingly, this week, Las Vegas takes on the Chiefs, who are tied for the second-highest percentage of games going under this season (82%). It has been a similar story for Kansas City as it has for the Raiders, with a combination of disjointed offensive play and some strong defensive performances. It very much feels the under is in play for this one, with a total just north of 40 currently on the board.
