Tutu Atwell Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the Rams Wide Receiver This Week?

Do we need a Cooper Kupp injury to give Tutu Atwell fantasy value in the home stretch of fantasy, or does he have standalone value?

Los Angeles Rams WR Tutu Atwell burst onto the scene when Cooper Kupp was hurt earlier in the season with Puka Nacua. It makes perfect sense that fantasy football managers would flock to Atwell again when they witnessed Kupp limp off the field in Week 11, but is he genuinely worthy of a pickup this week?

Should Tutu Atwell Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 12?

Surprisingly, Atwell has been a consistent receiver for Matthew Stafford this season. With that said, Atwell did not take advantage of his opportunity this past week when Kupp left the gridiron with yet another injury, catching only one ball for 17 yards with only three targets.

Atwell has averaged 2.3 catches for 17 yards in his last three games for a mediocre 15.9% target share. I can see a world where his usage explodes once again with an extended Kupp injury, but all early signs point to this not being the case for Cooper.

Atwell and the rest of the Rams receiving corps have a great stretch run of fantasy matchups vs. the Cardinals this week (25th), the Browns (dead last), and then the Ravens (26th).

The fantasy playoffs are full of plus matchups as well, with all three teams out of the top 12 ranked teams against fantasy wide receivers starting with the Commanders (16th), the Saints (14th), and — if you can bring your squad to the championship week — the Giants (24th).

With a week of planning, head coach Sean McVay can make any receiver on his roster a focal point to this Frankenstein offense, thereby producing fantasy gold. I am OK with picking up Atwell this week in case Kupp can’t go at full speed, but I do not see much value in Atwell otherwise.

Don’t drop anyone who could possibly get in your starting lineup the rest of the way, especially with six teams cruelly on bye in Week 13, but if you have a disposable piece, go for it.
