Matthew Stafford Injury Update: Latest on the Rams QB

Matthew Stafford is tough. But Mario Edwards Jr. demolished him in the fourth quarter on a flea flicker. Here's the latest on what we know.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford is one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL. He consistently takes hits, gets banged up, and remains on the field to play his gunslinging style. But he took a massive shot against the Seahawks on a flea flicker, and he remained on the ground for quite some time before gingerly walking off the field with trainers.

    Matthew Stafford Injury Update

Mario Edwards Jr. is 6’3″, 280 pounds, and Stafford practically opened himself up to be annihilated because he had to put everything into the downfield throw. That vulnerability made the hit worse.

Unfortunately, the play resulted in an interception. Stafford couldn’t get enough on the throw, and Tariq Woolen’s 6’4″ frame and outstanding leaping ability was a poor matchup on the attempt.

Predictably, Stafford returned on the very next drive because it takes a lot to keep the veteran quarterback off the field, no matter how ugly things get for him on it.

    Potential Fantasy Impact

Stafford didn’t have the best performance in his return to the starting lineup in Week 11 against the Seahawks.

He threw for just 79 yards and a score through the first three quarters of action after his top wide receiver, Cooper Kupp, was ruled out of the game with an ankle injury he sustained in the first half of this contest.

Newly signed QB Carson Wentz will take over under center if Stafford is forced to miss any time in the future. Expect the fantasy value of Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell to drop a bit if Stafford is out of the lineup.
