Sunday Night Football features two AFC teams who are scrapping for wins as they both look to hang on in the conference’s playoff race. The Las Vegas Raiders host the New York Jets with both teams needing every win they can get to stay within striking range of a Wild Card spot.
Both teams have had unique seasons for vastly different reasons, but despite that, both are still in the fight for a postseason spot. What time does the NFL game start tonight, and how can you watch it?
Who Plays on Sunday Night Football Tonight?
- Teams: New York Jets vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Location: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada
The Jets travel to Sin City hoping to get the taste of last week out of their mouth. On Monday Night Football, Zach Wilson and the offense fell flat against the Chargers in a 27-6 loss that gave them their fourth loss of the season and dropped them to .500 on the year. While there seemed to be a lot of questions surrounding the QB and his position at the top of the depth chart, it looks as if the Jets will stick with him — for now.
All season long it has been about just staying afloat long enough in the playoff race so that Aaron Rodgers would have a chance to come back and take them to the promised land. It has always felt like a lofty goal — both mathematically and physically — as Rodgers rehabs a torn Achilles from merely 10 weeks ago. But no one in New York is ruling out the possibility, and it appears that they are operating as such as well.

Over in Las Vegas, it has been a whirlwind for the last couple of weeks. The Raiders went into Week 9 having fired their head coach Josh McDaniels and put long-time NFL linebacker and current linebackers coach Antonio Pierce in charge in the interim. The Raiders responded with a big win over the New York Giants. Now the feeling in that building is much different than it was just a week ago.
Can the Raiders build off the moment and make it two in a row since the firing? That’s an important question they hope to answer positively tonight as there is a lot invested in the rest of this season. Pierce is getting a real audition for a chance to be the permanent head coach in Vegas, while the Raiders are still in the hunt for a playoff spot and another win would be huge in keeping pace in that regard.
