Washington Commanders WR Curtis Samuel is a player who can drive fantasy football managers crazy with his up-and-down performances. However, as he deals with a toe issue heading into Week 10, he is giving fantasy managers headaches for a different reason this week. Let’s take a look at whether Samuel is set to be playing in Week 10 and the fantasy implications of his status.
Is Curtis Samuel Going To Play in Week 10?
The current reports are that Samuel is expected to play in Week 10, per ESPN Insider Jeremy Fowler.
Samuel was limited all week in practice before being listed as questionable on the Commanders’ final injury report. It always felt like he had a chance to suit up on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, but it was good to get early confirmation from Fowler.

This game being a late afternoon kickoff is a big part of the reason fantasy managers wanted as much notice as possible. Sometimes, with these games, fantasy managers get stuck in limbo if we do not have an answer ahead of the 1 p.m. ET kickoffs if they have to make a decision right there and then.
Samuel has now been on the Commanders’ injury report for three weeks. Ahead of Week 8, a foot injury had him questionable, but Samuel would suit up and catch four passes for 22 yards. Unfortunately, in Week 9, the toe injury kept him out, but it seems he should return this week.
However, the down performances in Weeks 7 and 8, as Samuel dealt with foot issues suffered in Week 7, serve as a cautious tale. Just because a player is active does not mean he will be a full go in the game. Samuel could easily be limited, and when that is a risk for a borderline Flex option like he is, that makes the risk not worth the reward in many cases.
However, with Week 10 seeing three high-powered offenses and two further intriguing wide receiver options on a bye, pickings could be slim this week. Even so, Samuel ranks as the WR62 and 142nd overall in PFN’s Consensus Fantasy Rankings, which puts him outside the starting range for most leagues.
Potential Fantasy Options To Consider Over Samuel Include Noah Brown and Michael Wilson
With all of this in mind, fantasy managers may want to consider alternative options for Samuel this week. The first such option is Houston Texans WR Noah Brown, who had 153 yards and a touchdown on six receptions last week. With Nico Collins out, Brown could be in line for a high-usage day in what could easily be a shootout with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Another player potentially returning from injury is Cardinals WR Michael Wilson. With Kyler Murray back under center, the hope is that the passing game in Arizona gets a timely boost. If that is the case, Wilson could far outperform his current rank as the WR57 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
