Stefon Diggs Injury Update: Will Bills WR Play in Week 10? Fantasy Impact and More

Bills WR Stefon Diggs popped up on the injury report on Friday. Is he now in danger of missing Week 10's matchup against the Broncos on MNF?

Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs has been one of the most consistent WRs in the NFL for fantasy football over the past several years, and he’s part of a select group of players whom you simply don’t have to think about every week. You put them into your starting lineup and know that they’re going to produce for you.

Unfortunately, Diggs is popping up on the injury report with a back injury heading into their Week 10 matchup against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. What’s the latest news regarding the star WR?

Latest Injury Update on Stefon Diggs

With the Bills set to play on Monday night, their practice reports come out a day later than the majority of other teams in the league, as they have an extra day of rest. On Thursday, the Bills’ first day of practice for the week, Diggs was a full participant in practice, and everything appeared to be status quo for the veteran WR.

Unfortunately, something must have happened in practice because Diggs was downgraded to a limited participant on Friday with a back injury. He remained limited on Saturday but fortunately does not carry any injury designation into the weekend, lifting a huge weight off the mind of fantasy managers.

    Will Diggs Play This Week?

It does not seem like this injury will sideline Diggs in Week 10, barring a setback. The expectation was that if he was limited or worse, then he would be questionable, but the complete lack of any injury status is a huge positive. Back injuries can be funny things, so fantasy managers should be wary.

If you have other Bills or Broncos players on your roster, then the smart thing to do is hold one of them in reserve if you can and make sure Diggs is in a flex spot. That way if he does suffer a setback he can be replaced in your lineup on Monday.

What Does This Mean for Diggs’ Fantasy Ranking?

Right now, Diggs’ ranking for the week sits right where it normally would with the tiny asterisk of uncertainty beside it. There’s a possibility that this is just stiffness and that he always fully intended on playing this week. Now we see there is no injury report, the assumption must remain that he will play unless we hear different.

Fantasy managers desperately need Diggs to suit up, though, due to players like Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson carrying injury designations into the weekend, along with A.J. Brown and Tyreek Hill already unavailable due to being on bye. The WR rankings could get ugly in a hurry.

If we find out Sunday morning that Diggs is unable to suit up, Gabriel Davis becomes a bit more safe of an option for fantasy lineups, while Khalil Shakir would move up into the Flex conversation in full-PPR formats. Dalton Kincaid would become an incredibly intriguing play at the TE position, while Josh Allen would potentially move a couple of spots down the QB rankings due to not having his favorite target available for him.
