New Orleans Saints TE Taysom Hill has been a cheat code recently in fantasy football. He is listed as the worst scoring position in fantasy — sorry, kickers don’t count — but he runs, passes, and catches the ball with regularity. This is not a new phenomenon with Hill; we’ve seen this for extended periods before.
Should Taysom Hill Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 10?
We’ve even seen Hill as a starting QB in the NFL for multiple weeks. Two weeks ago, in fact, the Saints’ coaching staff had to use Hill in many ways due to injuries and learned how valuable he is.
I don’t see this usage changing for the 5-4 Saints as they sit on top of the NFC South and fight for playoff positioning. Hill is making over $10 million this year, so I doubt he’ll be spending much time on the bench with that type of financial investment.
Let’s see just how well-rounded this stat line is for Hill. In the last three games, he’s averaging eight rushes for 42 yards and a touchdown per game, one pass for 24 yards, and three catches for 26 yards. Wherever the Saints’ opponent can be exploited, Hill is used.
This makes Hill matchup-proof, but I see him as a running back because that’s where he has been scoring his touchdowns lately. This week, the Saints square off against the Minnesota Vikings, who rank seventh against fantasy running backs but 17th against tight ends and 24th against wide receivers. There’s a path for Hill in every game to get his points.

Touchdowns matter when deciding if Hill is worthy of a pickup this week. When comparing him to other waiver wire tight ends, Hill is exponentially more likely to get a touchdown chance than hoping for one of the widely available TE options such as Luke Musgrave, Jake Ferguson, and even Hill’s teammate, Juwan Johnson.
Hill is currently even in consideration for the No. 1 tight end, in my opinion, and you can’t just find those on the waiver wire often.
In the last two weeks, Hill has averaged 22.54 PPR fantasy points while the two top-ranked tight ends, Travis “Mr. Swift” Kelce, has averaged 8.1, and Mark Andrews has averaged 15.5. It’s a small sample size but goes with the time frame since the philosophy switch in New Orleans related to Hill’s usage.
One more checked box in the Hill camp is the fantasy playoff schedule. The Saints play the Giants, Rams, and Bucs in the fantasy playoffs. Those are three teams that New Orleans should be playing from a positive game script. Hill should get his touches on the ground in addition to the air and from under center.
I strongly recommend picking up Hill off the waiver wire if he’s still there and starting him in your TE slot if you have anyone not named Kelce or Andrews. If you drafted one of those two early, Hill still should be in your Flex position. This is a league-winning player here who can do things other tight ends simply can’t.
