Jalen Hurts Injury Update: What We Know About the Eagles QB

    Published on

The Philadelphia Eagles cannot afford to lose Jalen Hurts, but he hobbled off the field on Sunday. What happened to Hurts in Week 10?

Jalen Hurts is one of the most valuable players in the NFL, and the Philadelphia Eagles can’t afford to lose him. But Hurts is banged up after taking a big hit against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10. What’s the latest on Hurts, and what’s his latest injury status?

    Jalen Hurts Injury Update

Hurts took a sack from Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons just before halftime and immediately appeared to be injured. He hobbled off the field toward the sideline as backup QB Marcus Mariota began to warm up.

Hurts did not miss a play. He stayed in the game and handed the ball off to running back Kenneth Gainwell on the next snap, a third down which failed to gain the necessary yardage for a first.

Fortunately, Hurts was able to return to the game when the Eagles took the field at the start of the third quarter. He was jogging normally before halftime and doesn’t appear to be moving abnormally.

The fifth-year signal-caller may have aggravated his existing knee injury. Hurts has been dealing with a bone bruise but hasn’t been listed on Philadelphia’s injury report.

He initially appeared to injure his knee against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7. However, Hurts has repeatedly refused to answer questions about his knee issue and hasn’t missed any time.

“Like I said, I think (Hurts has) been playing really good football,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters last week. “We’re not looking at the stats kind of like that. We’re looking at it day-by-day, game-by-game, and we feel like he’s been going in the right place with the football. Making accurate throws, big-time throws in clutch moments.”

After Philadelphia’s win over Dallas, Hurts mostly played coy about his knee injury.

“Selfishly, I don’t think the bye week could have come at a better time,” Hurts said.

What Would the Eagles’ Offense Look Like Without Hurts?

Hurts, the engine for the Eagles’ offense, totaled 139 yards and scored his seventh rushing TD in the first half against the Cowboys.

If he is unable to go in the third quarter, Philadelphia will turn to Mariota. A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert would all take a big fantasy hit if Hurts misses any time in the coming weeks.
