Is Jalen Hurts Injured? Latest on Knee Injury Plaguing Eagles QB

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is putting together an MVP-caliber season -- is he healthy enough for when Philadelphia takes on the Dallas Cowboys?

Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have grown attached to quarterback Jalen Hurts, to the point they’ll cringe at the sight of him limping off of a field.

But is Hurts limping into the Eagles’ highly anticipated NFC East showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9?

Latest on Jalen Hurts’ Ailment and Implications for Cowboys Contest

Hurts is dealing with what was described as a “bone bruise” in his left knee ahead of the Cowboys matchup. However, he’s not listed as questionable and is anticipated to lead the Eagles’ offense.

The ailment first surfaced on Oct. 29, which was during the 38-31 road win over the Washington Commanders. That game saw Hurts end the afternoon throwing for 319 yards — which was the season’s best for him. But, he was held to four carries for six yards as a runner.

That was also in the Eagles’ last game, which caused Hurts to walk into practices ahead of the Cowboys contest dealing with the lingering ailment. He’s even been seen wearing a brace over that same knee.

His knee became a topic of discussion for the Philadelphia media on Wednesday. Hurts, though, sounded unbothered by his knee.

“I’m here,” Hurts said in a press conference this week. “I told you guys I don’t really want to speak on it anymore. I’m out there.”

He even walked out of a follow-up question involving his knee.

Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni Addresses What He’s Liked About Hurts Outside of Stats

Meanwhile, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t sound overly concerned about the health state of his quarterback.

He also doesn’t care about his astronomical stats either.

Sirianni, during his session with the media Wednesday, told reporters he’s not looking at the numbers. Instead, he cares more about how Hurts is getting his stats.

“Like I said, I think he’s been playing really good football,” Sirianni told reporters. “We’re not looking at the stats kind of like that. We’re looking at it day-by-day, game-by-game, and we feel like he’s been going in the right place with the football. Making accurate throws, big-time throws in clutch moments.”

By suiting up against Dallas, Hurts has a chance to break out of his even record against the Cowboys. He’s 2-2 in his career versus the Eagles’ longtime NFC East rival.

However, Hurts was inactive in the last meeting against Dallas on Dec. 24, 2022, which saw Gardner Minshew handle the Eagles’ offense in the 40-34 loss in Arlington, Texas.

As for home games against the Cowboys, Hurts has won both of his games at Lincoln Financial Field. He guided the Eagles to the 26-17 win last season, going 15-of-25 for 155 yards and two touchdown passes.
