How Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s Offseason Work Is Now Paying Dividends in Cowboys’ 43-20 Win

How did Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb find a rhythm that has continued to win games for the Dallas Cowboys?

The Dallas Cowboys had a dominating 43-20 win against the Los Angeles Rams, and a significant factor of that was the chemistry Dak Prescott has built with CeeDee Lamb.

Prescott said it was essential to get an early start to the game, especially with a Noon kickoff.

During the game, Prescott had 304 passing yards, an 80.6% completion rate, and four touchdowns.

The quarterback says he’s in a rhythm now and gives credit to the system and those around him for the success.

Two touchdowns were to Lamb, who had 158 receiving yards on 12 catches for the day.

Prescott said the productivity on the field is from the work he and his receiver have put in, stemming back to the offseason training they did together in April.

“You go back to the offseason. From the time we started way back in April, maybe even before then. In my backyard to the time that we spent at minicamp and OTAs to trips to Atlanta, a lot of time invested. A lot of trust in that guy,” said Prescott.

The quarterback says Lamb knows his thinking and always communicates highly.

Prescott admitted that things get frustrating when things aren’t going in favor of them clicking on the field during game day because they both know how much work has gone into their game.

The 30-year-old says the two are reaping the rewards from all that work now, and it will only continue to grow.

    Lamb’s Secret to Success

The receiver says the two rely on each other, and he does what he can to contribute by staying open, saying, “We built the trust coming in; this is Year 3 together, or 4, dang, I’m getting old! But it’s Year 4 together, a lot of trust.”

During the first half of the game, Lamb had nine catches for 122 receiving yards. He says hitting hard early was always the goal, and it opened up the rest of the offense.

“I got started early, and it opened up the offense for us and giving us … everything open, and just giving us the ability to call any play with no restrictions, I feel like that’s when we’re at our best. Playing fast and making plays,” said Lamb.

This was Lamb’s third career game with at least 10 receptions, 100 yards, and two touchdown catches, the most such games in Cowboys’ franchise history, per Cowboys PR.

    What Is the Offense’s Identity?

After the team’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Lamb was admittedly frustrated with the lack of times he had the ball, only having 12 receptions from Week 3-5.

When he was asked after the game what the team’s identity was, the receiver said he didn’t know and that he didn’t know how to fix that issue at the time.

The following week, Lamb discussed Prescott approaching him to discuss how the two could get him more involved.

Since that conversation, Lamb has had 19 total receptions, 12 of which came against the Rams.

When asked what the team’s identity is now, he had a different answer than before, stating, “We’re explosive and physical. I say that with full ability and capability, we know what we can do week in and week out, and we can definitely take the top off a defense.”
